Folloup after pipline embolization

Thank you. The PA ordered a platet function lab. I also requested the brand name of Plavix. Not certain if it will make a difference, but in my mind generics are not exact chemical components and many generics are manufactured overseas.

It has" platlet count "written on lab slip. I will have to drive an hour to the hospital lab, as it speciality lab. I just returned to work light duty status. I actually feel better this week, compared to the last few weeks I was weak and short of breath.

Good! I remember several years ago members were saying the same thing about medications coming from overseas. When I asked my pharmacist he said ours here in the USA were coming from Canada and gave me a website that verified what he said. I don’t remove the site. I do remember it being sarcastically funny as work had suggested we just buy them from Canada and gave us a link, the prices were phenomenally lower. Then we were told we couldn’t do that anymore. Can’t recall if the government stopped it or what.

I looked up the brand my pharmacy provided. The manufacturer is in India, and was fined for not manufacturing medications to standard in 2022. I have been taking plaxix brand for 6 days now, and actually feel much better. Coincidence? Not 100%, but… I will continue to take the Brand vs generic.

This is great news! I hope your bloodwork will be in order. I remember from my education a LONG time ago , that the so called ā€œplacebo effectā€ could be as much as 30%. Whatever the reason is that you feel better, the most important thing is that you are feeling good. Please get back to us with the results of your bloodwork.

I had my unruptured aneurysm repaired 3 weeks before the pandemic. I had 2 follow ups after surgery. An angiogram 6 months after and a CRT a year after. Luckily, I didn’t have to go back to work after 3 weeks. We stayed home for 7 months. Although, there were no complications the Plavix and aspire mixed kept me very tired and sleepy. I was able to rest, staying home was great to nap every time I needed to rest. No limitations at all, I was able to exercise, play golf and fly. I was not able to focus or multitask for at least 2 years, it took a while. Bruises appear out of nowhere then, still bruised easily. The only medication I take is low dose aspirin. My veins are not the same for sure, specially the ones on my feet. My only complaints are angiogram related. My right side groin it hurts and I can stretch fully on that side. With all ache and pains I feel immensely fortunate to be alive. I had the best team of doctors and care. I didn’t have any symptoms, I went for a hearing test and the ENT sent me to have a brain MRI. Nothing wrong with my inner or middle ear. I had an aneurysm! You will regain yourself in time.

Agree. The doctors who help us are wonderful, but they have not been through what we have, so they have no reference to the non-medical results. Listen to yourself.

I received my lab work results my P2Y12 is 7 PRU ( seven) low; normal range should be 194- 418. PA called told me to now cut down plavix 75mg to every other day. My platet function Aspirin level is 374. I must say I am nervous, as I don’t understand fully what it means other than risk for bleeding levels less than 100, I am 7 ( seven). Not certain what that means. :disappointed_relieved:. She lefy a message on my phone, hopefully I can reach her tomorrow, so she can explain.

It was the same thing for me when I started the Plavix and Aspirin. I was prescribed 75 mg Plavix daily and 487 mg Aspirin (1 1/2 tablet)
We checked the levels after seven days, my PRU was 5 !!
The pharmacist called me and she was very worried asking me how I felt, if I was bruising, having nosebleeds, bleeding when I brushed my teeth etc……
I had to stop Plavix for two days and then take 1/2 dose daily.
We had to adjust the dose further, so I ended up taking 1/2 Plavix every third day. I have saved my old notes, just in case…….
I was told that I was a ā€œhyper responsive ā€œperson to Plavix, which is a genetic thing.

@My2024
**Make sure you get a couple of follow up PRU tests. The dose might be adjusted again. **
Be careful now when the plates are too low.

I also have to say that the answer you got from the first staff member is highly unprofessional. When they answer that bruising is an effect of Plavix , this is true but they ALWAYS have to make sure that the levels are too low! … if I were you I would tell the doctor about it, a PRU level of 7 is not what they want.
Please keep us updated.
All the best to you

I must say I am very concerned. I HAVE LOTS OF BRUISES. I will definitely request lab repeat. I am afraid of injuring myself now. Do t know what risk of bleeding actually mean. Is it internal?, my brain, my nose, or if i get an abrasion. I will ask her today. Thank you for your input, now I dont feel alone and " weird". I knew something was wrong with my body.
