Exercisinh after aneurism clipping recovery

I had my unruptured aneurism clipped in 2013. Since o have not gone but to the gym but i have put on so much weight and I would like to rejoin. Dr saId i am fine as long as i dont have another. My issue is what happens if i develop one and do not know?

I’ve been told it usually takes a lifetime for aneurysms to form…so try not to think about it. I wouldn’t worry about it. When was your last scan?

I had an aneurysm rupture in 2005 and had it coiled. Followed up with MRI scans for the next 5 years and had my 5 year cerebral angiogram and received a clean bill of health. 6 years later, almost to the date of the original rupture, the coils compressed and I showed symptoms of a partial 3rd cranial nerve palsy for about a month but thought it was due to a bright light in the room. The coils compressed and a bulge formed from the original aneurysm and was hitting my optic nerve. I was admitted to the hospital and had a craniotomy the next day. I was told that I was treated but til this day feel uneasy. I would think that your doctor would have a follow up plan in place. For example, an MRI every couple of years. I know that every circumstance is different, but talk to your neurosurgeon and see what he/she says. My doctor told me to continue living and enjoy life. If I have any questions or concerns, he is available. I walk and exercise, but I don't overdue it. Listen to your body.

I also had an unruptured aneurysm and had coiling done. At my 6 months angiogram it showed that my coiling also compressed so I had to have more coiling done and they put a stent in. I have an angiogram every 6 months. Dr said I need angiogram every 6 months for the rest of my life. I do go to the gym but I only walk on treadmill. I’m kind of afraid to put any pressure on my head. There are some days though I come home from gym and don’t always feel good. If I am at the gym and start to not feel good I stop go home and try again another day.

Ideally and most likely they will find it on a follow up scan and treat it.

Personally I now more than ever fear not having lived life to my fullest potential before I go more than anything. This ruptured aneurysym has made a few things in my life now impossible, I refuse to let it take away any more than I have to.

Great philosophy, Kelly. Thank you for sharing and hope it is helpful to all. It is to me!!

Fiona, one of the things I dislike about this site is the answers are not appropriate. You had an unruptured Annie and some of the responses were from people with ruptured aneurysms; you had a clipping and some of the people who responded had coiling. I had a clipping in January 2015 and went back to exercising with no restrictions in February 2015. I am back to lifting lifting weights, walking, jump roping; all the things that I did before surgery and I’m 65 years old. Live your life to the fullest; we are so lucky we had our aneurysms detected before they ruptured and I still think clipping is a better procedure that a coiling. get back to the gym!

I had 3 clipped and one unruptured that they can’t get to. Dr. told me live your life. Exercise is great!

I don't care for going to the gym, but I do love dancing. I was part of a middle eastern dance troupe before I had my unruptured aneurysms clipped 4 years ago. I've also had Gamma Knife radiation for a large AVM.

My neurosurgeon told me to dance as much as I wanted. I went back to dance class 4 weeks after my craniotomy. Other things in my life have kept me from dancing regularly since then, but I did attend classes 2-3 times/week over the summer. I took one 2 hour class this morning. I didn't make it through this afternoon's 3 hour class since the weather has been triggering headaches for the past week. I have attended multi-hour, multi-day dance workshops since the crani.

The only real restriction I have is that I can't SCUBA until the AVM is completely obliterated.

Nancy...thank you for your input here...I was coiled (@ 61 years)...I am a non-believer in the quality of coils and stents...Keep enjoying...all you can do so wonderfully, so beautifully...

The main reason...I so hope for continued interaction of those w/clips and coils/stents...it can/may be helpful for new members and for those udner their selection process...

I generally note my title as 3W..wickedly wired woman...there are no long-term stats on these either...and, there are so many stats I have of question(s)...
