Double vision. ..weakness in limbs?

HI everyone.....I had a coiling with stent 5 months ago, my aneurysm (5 mm) was located behind my right eye very close to my optic nerve. Immediately after surgery I awoke to notice a blind spot in my right eye.

2 months after surgery i began to experience double vision episodes lasting 2 to 3 minutes and episodes of limb weakness. The first time it happened, I thought I was having a stroke!

My legs will become so weak and almost feel as though they aren't a part of me...my left arm has become weak as well. Anyone have similar experience?

My dr's (and there have been plenty) either have no definitive answer, assume its from surgery, and dont know what to do, or all together think its something entirely new...ugh....but all tests are negative!

So, if anyone has any suggestions I would APPRECIATE IT SOOOOOO MUCH!

Thanks, Gina

Hello Gina

Thats pretty major stuff to have happening to you...you've had a recent Angio/MRA with contrast done? Have you considered a Neuro Omphtamologist visit? Janet

I am now going to see my 3rd neurologist. I've had mri, eeg, blood tests with no answers

I called my surgeon and he keeps handing me off. Very disapponting, so I'm headed to Northwestern, a well known hospital in the city of Chicago. Amazingly, with my symptoms no one has wanted to do an angiogram. Along with all that, I have a headache that is located at the very base of my head and is warm. I presented with the same headache the very 1st trip to ER which the dr.s said had nothing to do with my aneurysm??

Honestly Gina, this is YOUR life, not thiers, I think you're totally, %100 in the right to start demanding answers ! Tell them you insist on a 4 vessel angiogram with contrast ! that is the MOST definitive test available, you have a history that calls for the most drastic of measures and tests, and I honestly believe that a Neurologist is NOT what you need but a Neurosurgeon IS ! Take someone with you who can be there for you and can help push for the answers you deserve to get !

Janet

Thank you Janet,

Your reply made me cry, as I'm typing this my tears are streaming. I never thought, nor was I told that any of these side effects were possible. That's not to say, had I known that I wouldn't have done coiling, I WOULD, after all, I'm alive. I just want them ( the dr.s) to acknowledge these effects that I'm having are legit.

Would have never known to ask for a 4 vessel angio with contrast...THANK YOU

You GO girl !! I know none of this is easy, and the medical world is like a big mystery to most anyone who hasn't had to deal with all the BS, (Me, I've dealt with plenty of BS !!) After having 2 aneurysms (1998 clipping, 2006 coils, then in 2010 for another clipping to fix the compacted coils) , and recently I made an appt. with my Neurosurgeon who did infact tell me that a 4 vessel angiogram with contrast is THEE test, and I'm to be getting another one soon, as soon as the county okays me to be on their health insurance plan.

I wish you nothing but positive vibes and protected health , (In my mind, these people in the medical community work for US, not vice versa) Peace to you, Janet

Hi Gina...I agree with Janet...it is Your Life ... not theirs...but I know easier said then done...2nd opinion sounds needed esp with all these symptoms...~ Colleen

I know...you're both right. I went from never needing to see a dr. Except my gyno 1 time a year, and one of those people who doesn't even like taking aspirin, to all this. It's crazy! Mri, eeg, blood tests, this medicine, that medicine, its overwhelming. I did see a very well known Neuro ophthalmologists at northwestern, he surmised that my blind spot is more than likely from my surgery. But as he put it, it wont get any worse, but it may never get any better. I know all these things going on now are from my surgery, I don't need to be a brain surgeon to figure that one out. I feel like the dr.s don't wanna throw each other under the bus. I just want one of them to say, hey hey, you know what, lets maybe go back up and see what the heck is going on. They had me tested for,MS, seizures, and some auto immune disease that I could barely pronounce!

Hey Gina,

Been thinking about you, you okay?? find out anything else regarding...everything? Hope to hear back from you, peace, Janet
