Dizzier/more light-headed than usual

So I stopped Plavix last Saturday (3 days ago), per doc instructions, and I’m beginning to wonder if that cessation is having an effect on my recent dizziness. I am six months out from my FredX flow diverter procedure and have been feeling “fairly” well, all things considered (if you ignore the looming fatigue that takes me down in the afternoon)… but yesterday I found myself out and about running an errand in the morning (honestly, pushing my limits) and got really light-headed. Today was quieter and alas, dizzy again and even light, low-pressure headache.
I found this Dizzy after stopping Plavix and aspirin on the forum, so sounds like it happens to some people..? Anyone with similar experience?

Hi @Karla -

Um, it probably won’t surprise you that I am adding my name to the list … maybe!

My dizziness started about a week after my angiogram - i.e., about a week after I stopped Plavix.

That being said, we are still trying to figure out why! One possible other reason is that my PCP and I changed my BP medication also around that time, so is that the reason instead of the Plavix? No conclusions just yet, so infortunately, I do not have an answer for you!

One thing both docs wanted to know whether it was consistent or random times of day. So, I started a spreadsheet for them tracking the occurrences so that they have some data. Just in case that is a question you want to consider as well!

The past couple of days have been better though .. :crossed_fingers:

Hoping for a no-dizzy day for you!!

I honestly don’t remember, it’s a bad brain day today. BH left for work an hour ago, so there’s no one to ask. I remember being a bit dizzy all the time, I was taken off Plavix quite quickly because off all the bleeding going on. I didn’t get the tests to see what it was doing and didn’t get switched to the other like @oct20 mentioned. Are you hydrating properly? Have you reached out to your doc?

@FinWhaleFan Hmm… it sure makes things confusing when you have a couple things change at the same time, so no clear culprit. Incidentally, I had my BP meds upped in dosage one month ago and that doc said it takes two weeks to see results, so in my case, it should not be the BP meds… I just messaged my neurosurgeon (rather his team – he never actually responds, usually his PAs) since it was prescribed at the hospital. I have to do a follow up with the neurologist associated with the neuropsych referral, so I will certainly talk about it with him too, once I get that scheduled!

I just yesterday started noting in my journal (in orange) when the dizziness starts, and well, today I just woke up dizzy and continue to be… sigh :smiling_face_with_tear:

@Moltroub I immediately thought of you and hydrating on Monday… (as I get up and refill my bottle with electrolytes as well). I think I felt like this right after coming out of the hospital each time I had a procedure, but only for a week or so. Just messaged my neuro team… This dizziness is quite annoying, because I was beginning to do short runs nearby in my car and I’m not feeling confident to drive anymore.

I’ve learned if not confident behind the wheel, well don’t get behind it. So good for you! I do remember the more times I had an angiogram the longer (think months, not weeks) it took me to recover. It was one giant leap backwards and tiny, tiny minuscule step forward. Until my stent and then it was like someone turned on the lights in my brain.
