Thanks Merl! I have been saving my allowance to get the back ones on either cd or USB drive. Before I ruptured I kept them in binders and sleeves. But now they are all over the place! I have cancelled a couple or rather did not renew. And I have run out of bookshelves. But I think I will cancel some of the catalogs we get, we usually just look on line when we want something. Great idea, I can do today. Again thank you!
thanks Sally!! i viewed flylady - she is awesome! tc

Sally...an email, a phone call, or whatever....just twists my thoughts more..
It all depends, for each of us, which parts of our brain were hit...and the impaact on memory... to help guide the brain sequences...If you ae back I nroder...you have been blessed...

Ronk, I had the same problem when I came out of hospital. I found this - it's what you need and, if you receive and follow the free emails, it's ALL you need! I promise. Worked for me: http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/
There is an Ap that I use on my iPhone called "Paperkarma" This company helps you to get companies to stop sending you unwanted catalogs and junk mail. They have you take a photo of the company's Logo and/or return address (using your iPhone), then you tell them your address. They contact the company for you, to get them to stop sending you the catalogs and junk. They also send you updates so you can let them know who has stopped and who has not.
It really does work- (unless you start catalog shopping again!!!!) but it limits the quantity of junk you receive.
Good to know Alice! Thanks for the advice:)
So how's it going Ron?
My progress stalled...I have 3 rooms that are livable. I'm hoping to make some progress in the next two weeks...I need to get better about making lists. And not making them so big that I can't possibly accomplish them.

awesome Sarge, i am with you!! thank you for the inspiration as we get back on track!! tc xoxo
Sarge said:I was not a clutter bug before my Annie. I wasn't meticulous; but now, it's almost impossible to conquer. I'm grabbing a trash bag and starting some clean out tomorrow, who's with me? Post your progress here...good luck!

Me too Sarge! ugh, i do a tiny spot then quit! ok i need a plan b, ok i got it i will start in the corner by the door and go counterclockwise, keep trying! we can do this! i will join you and trash some stuff and fill the big brothers donation box! tc xoxo
I tried Flylady-she's great. I started out by reading her emails and not doing a thing, just getting a sense of her philosophy. It's just been a few weeks but my small living space is now clutter free, and she's trained me to get rid of old clothes, magazines, etc. I am now at the stage of keeping things orderly-because my brain functions so much better without a bunch of crap lying around, e.g. if I use a glass, I wash it, dry it and put it away. I keep a large plastic bag next to my closet and each time I see a piece I'll never wear again, into the bag it goes.
It seems like, for me, the key is establishing a habit...and the new habits feel like fun and are working!!! Just keep trying...push through the resistance...and look for the fun in it. I keep telling myself that I'm a new person now and the old crap just reminds me of the past when being in the moment is so much more fun and rich!

I like it Jane! I am getting ready to put out a new season of clothes, the ones I didn’t touch this winter are getting donated. I figured if I didn’t wear it, must not like it, if I don’t like it, why keep it?
you're awesome! All of you on team de-clutter!! i love it! i did a little today found a insurance booklets you get every year from 2011!!-lol
Yes!!! The clothes! How confusing it is to stare at a closet full of things you don’t wear. I’ve gone with the idea of 10 easy pieces (of clothing) for each season. I take out what I wear, get rid of the rest, the buy a few things that go with my fave pieces.
I just did a sweep through the bathroom cabinet and threw out 50 percent - stuff I never use. So easy on the eyes now- no more visual searching, and frustration.
Staying out of stores, which make me anxious anyway, cuts to clutter to zero. I order very little on line.
Thank you for all of the feedback and high-fives! Jane you are onto something - I need to change my HABITS. I've signed up for FlyLady emails, I'll check back in after Spring Break with an update.
Have you ever heard of KonMari? It's a little too overwhelming for me, but it may work for you. There's a book for it (which I LOST, LOL!), but what I like about it is the realistic expectations. The author said that it can take up to a YEAR to achieve results if you're dealing with significant clutter. I think FlyLady might be a little easier, but if you're interested in looking at KonMari, here's a Pinterest link https://www.pinterest.com/pin/165507355033658829/ and a link to the book http://www.amazon.com/The-Life-Changing-Magic-Tidying-Decluttering/dp/1607747308.
Keep posting the positive stories and progress - I'll be sure to do the same.
Had never heard of KonMari, maybe our local library has a copy. Thanks for the links Sarge, they were really helpful! Today is a maybe it will rain, maybe it won’t day. I guess it’s is definitely a keep working on the clothes day!
slam dunked the giant insurance booklet of 2011 into the recycling bin and did it feel good!! i think i will start in the closet and make room for more junk!--lol
How do we "know" how many clothes we need. I live in a four season state, very cold, cold, cool and a few hots. I need clothes for garden and dirty work; active clothes for birding, boating, biking and walking; out to dinner clothes; fancy dress and regular street clothes...................so, that's still a lot of coats, slacks, jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses and SHOES....not to mention undergarments......
hi! they say if you havent worn it in a year to get rid of it. Clothing is not really clutter. Clutter is outdated junk like old documents, and stuff out of place, finding a home for stuff is the tricky part, i have a real problem because i had to clear out 2 rooms i used to occupy to make room for nephews, ugh a little at a time, tc

Absolutely! The more clothing that goes out the less confused I am and the easier it is to get dressed in the morning. It's hard to let go of items from my past work life-- I keep thinking I'll go back to work--- but it adds to the feeling that I'm a different transformed person now---who doesn't get confused looking in her closet. LOL

Take the approach the four season French take-own 1-2 good dresses, a few each tees, pants/shorts for boating, biking, etc. Same for gardening. What are street clothes? Here in Maine jeans and chinos are what we wear out, maybe a skirt, one good coat and one down jacket. I've found that I need way less than I thought. But you have to do the work your self. I started by taking everything out of my closet and saying goodbye to the 50 percent I never wore. Next I went to my bureau and did the same. Then to the storage bins...and so on. Good luck. -J

Starbirder... so agree with janeefisher... and, I loved Paris....
Yes sounds like a very good plan, now the hard part BEGIN the process!!!!! I get stuck on keeping on task....too many books to exercise my eyes, walks to take.....yeah the START is the hardest.
Thanks Jane hope you missed the snow and earthquake......and patioplans support...oh Paris...wee wee
One of the receptionists at my PCP shared this with me - her husband has her put the clothes on hangers so the hanger is backwards. If that piece of clothing isn’t used for three months, they get rid of it. Th clothes that are used, they keep. She said it stopped a lot of impulse buying. I thought the three months sounded short, but that’s about the season of clothes, right?
