I haven't been to this forum in a very long time. I was surprised I was even able to log on. it's been 4 years since my unruptured ba was diagnosed and coiled. I had a stroke on the table during the coiling procedure but wasn't left with any physical disabilities. my brain, however, hasn't functioned the same since the initial surgery and stroke. whereas I was clean and organized prior to the surgery, I cannot get it together now. I had a good healthy bit of OCD - in a productive, not destructive, manner. it seems that part of my brain was damaged because I struggle with point a to point b on a daily basis. I have cognitive issues and yes, way too much clutter. I have a 13 year old son and 8 year old boy and girl twins and the amount of paper coming home from school is more than I can handle. I can't offer solutions but I can let you know you're not the only one.
booty64 - yes, it is about BAs. I was a completely different person prior to my BA. cognitive issues are very real after any amount of damage to the brain.
hi star! i am the worst! 6 yrs later still got a closet full of work clothes and i'm permanently disabled!! you are right as rain tho, things will get done, maybe not today tho, take care thanks for your excellant input !

Ronk, don't get me started and my annie's didn''t ruptured, just "bulged" into optic nerve, so no seeing out of that eye, then when finally muscle started working, double and blurred vision.
It just take time for our brains and eye, etc. to heal. In the meantime we rest and do the best we can to return to our new "normal". Yes how any clothes do we really need, I mean I live in North East, that's 4 seasons of clothes and today is 7 or so inches of that white stuff and that means blizzard clothes. I do better with papers; as someone said shred, shred and more shred. Little by little it does get done. Best of luck guys.
excellant Harleylena! hey maybe we need a flylady sesame thing! wouldnt that be awesome! take care and thanks! you all are very inspiring and are just what the dr didnt order-lol

Booty64: Yes, this is related to the wonderful world of aneurysms. Moltroub explained it best so I won't ramble on my thoughts.
Sally: Great FlyLady link :)
Ron: I hear ya! I think my approach to organizing has modeled itself after Sesame Street. Remember those little pictures they'd put on screen and you had to pick which didn't belong with the others? I walk into a room and find a lone sock in the living room and imagine it needing to be with the sock family elsewhere. That's sad huh...my brain has reverted to Sesame Street. :) Small bites. If you look at the whole it's overwhelming. I start in a corner and work my way around with lots of breaks. If I'm tempted to keep something I haven't touched since the prehistoric times I tell myself there's someone out there looking for just this very thing at the second hand store.
wow Kurt you are doing great! keep it up! i do the same phase thing when i make chili or any small job, took me days to recaulk the bathtub! tc

Clutter isn't a problem for me, clutter drives me nuts so I clean up more than I should. It's getting work done that is hard for me. I have to break the work down into small increments and take many breaks. Large projects are virtually impossible at this point, but if I can break them into smaller jobs I can get there over time.
For background I had an aneurysm burst 11 months ago. They clipped one that did not burst and coiled the one that did burst. I was in the hospital for a full month. 3 months ago they clipped a third one on the other side from the first two, and 2 months ago I had a pipeline stent installed to stop the first one (the one that burst and was coiled) from continuing to fill up.
Post the video Ron, if you have problems we will help. Ohana has broken a nail. She cries when it touches something. It’s sideways. Aunt Dr Kim will take her tomorrow and work on it Monday while I’m at Wake getting pictures of my brain and seeing Dr Q-W
Yes! The various piles used to get to a point and it would "have to go". Now....... A pile on the computer table "had to go" a couple of weeks ago. Now I can not find the usb cable that I need for my camera..... I guess that means that is the last time the computer table gets cleaned off! :-) Seriously, piles overwhelm me, and I just do not know what to do with the "stuff" sometimes.
My downfall is mail, catalogues, papers...I'll throw it on the dinette table or my desk, then when I just have to clear one of them off, I'll stack the stuff up "nice" and move the stack to another piece of furniture, or throw it in a box. Of course I have every intention to discard, file, etc., everything in my latest box, the one I started before Thanksgiving. One day, when I have a little more time. I don't work and rarely leave the house, but it's just so hard to find time to clear away that box (and two or three piles).
On the other hand, I never was OCD about anything at all before, but now I have two major things I get OCD about. One is cabinet doors and drawers, they have to be totally shut. And bathroom towels and wash clothes have to be folded just so and the folds all have to face the front of the shelves. Years ago, I was as guilty as anyone in the house about leaving doors and drawers ajar, and the towels were lucky they got folded at all!
Edwardo was able to put some new videos up for us! I couldn’t do it lol! He rocks! Hope everyone takes time to look at them. They are the two part Ron linked and one on the flylady sink
It sure is appropriate Ron! Remember my grout story! LOL Keep on posting...we understand far too well :)

and to those who dont think my post is appropriate, it is for me! thats why i put it in personal stories category. Even if it is off base thats ok we do it all here in discussion forum as long as it abides by the rules, I've discussed many things here in my 4 yrs ie weather, safety, music, hobbies etc etc, go with the flow! its all related to the b/a aftermath rehab, tc
Sally...an email, a phone call, or whatever....just twists my thoughts more..
It all depends, for each of us, which parts of our brain were hit...and the impaact on memory... to help guide the brain sequences...If you ae back I nroder...you have been blessed...

Ronk, I had the same problem when I came out of hospital. I found this - it's what you need and, if you receive and follow the free emails, it's ALL you need! I promise. Worked for me: http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

Ronk, Your posts and this issue are VERY appropriate I wrote a long response to you but for some reason it did not appear. I'll try to post this and if it works I'll re-write the original post. BTW- it's not appropriate for others to judge what anyone says in this forum. Brain aneurysm causes extensive, and varied problems. What's a problem for one person, may not be for another. Lots is dependent on the support system we have, the access to post-aneurysm care, our living environment, and so on. Most warmly, Jane

Donna, Our junk mail rarely makes it past the front door, we keep a recycle spot just for it. And catalogs, I’ve decided if I move them before looking at them, I don’t really need to see what’s in it - three moves, it’s recycled. Now if anyone can share a hint for what to do with all my magazine subscriptions…

Cancel them Mol, most of them are available as an online format now anyway. And if you have a decent web security software, most of those annoying 'popups' can be eliminated too.
