8 March 2026 new member welcomes!

What a wonderful overcast morning it is in my part of the world! The birds are busy after the rain, really a bit of a storm, and it’s music to my ears. The dogs got their monthly baths. I couldn’t stand it anymore so I did Ohana first and then the next day our Ms. Barks A Lot (Nina) heavy shedder. I can’t lift her into and out of the tub. She has a hind leg that’s 3” longer due to some abuse from her first owner and I’m too short when she stretches that leg out. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get to the old rubber liner from the upper pond that got removed. It was nicely folded and up by the well house. It’s now about 60’ away and looks like Ohana can use another bath, her white areas are now a nice reddish brown. Oh well, at least they had fun and is an inspiration for me to drag it down to the concrete and get out the pressure washer to clean the EPDM (rubber) not the dogs. BH and I were cleaning one of the vehicles and BH got a good bit of skin removed from a hand when it got in front of the spray. To say I felt guilty would be an understatement. BH has headed to get the mop bucket and some old wash clothes as they cannot go into the house in the condition they managed to get in.

Sorry for the long break y’all don’t know I just took. Girls wanted in the house so a good spit bath was in order with three half buckets of tepid water. Nina just had her face and front paws, she’s smarter like that and was pulling the heavy rubber with her teeth. Ohana, well she’s our beloved Ohana and takes life to the fullest, with a gusto I had as a younger person. Nothing is half way with her, it’s full speed ahead and then nap time. She was covered muzzle to tail since she got under the rubber. Both are good teachers on how to live life. Ohana jumps in without too much of a pause, Nina studies, is more cautious and then goes for it. She is really good at climbing logs, patient at most things (not storms), and is insistent on the squirrels being ready to play when she’s ready. I think my rupture made me more like Nina, a little hesitant, a bit wary until I get it in my mind how to do something. Yes, I wish I was more like Ohana racing forward and taking it all, but I am older so there’s that. BH is always telling me I’m not 20 anymore and need to adjust what I want to do with what I’m able to do, it’s difficult for me. I can’t blame everything on my rupture, life is constantly evolving and it gets enough blame for things I ended up with as a result.

On to our welcomes, apparently I have an early lunch date with friends. Luckily BH had let me know it might happen yesterday so I would be more prepared today. It also lets me know I need to stay clean and not mess with the rubber, yet.
