Hello, my name is Mandy. I am one week postop today following treatment for the left ICA in the cavernous sinus measuring 6 mm. The treatment I chose was flow diverter pipeline. Procedure was done through my wrist. Very simple easy at the hospital for one night was discharged the next morning so far so good only have minor brain zaps I call them them sharp pains here and there but I’ve always had them with and at diagnosis , other than that can’t complain. It was a relatively easy procedure. Limited because you cannot bend or lift anything of weight for first 2 weeks, and nothing over 20 pounds for a few months.
Hi @Mandygyrl41 -
What great news!
Glad to hear that the flow diverter is in and done, and already hard at work! I had my flow diverter installed in the fall of 2024, and I agree it is a relatively easy procedure - and for me was very successful as well.
Not lifting anything over 5 lbs for the first week or so was the most challenging for me - but I taught my cat how we could work around that, and so we both learned to adapt.
When do they have you scheduled for your follow-up?
Congratulations!

I have a four week postop, which is just over the phone, but then in six months they wanna look at it with the angiogram
4 week postop planned over the phone and then I have a six-month angiogram planned
Thanks for sharing your procedure! I agree with @FinWhaleFan the weight limit is challenging to live with, extremely challenging for me. When your months of 20 lb limit is done, will you then go to another? I’m supposed to not lift anything over 40 lbs, but that was given right after I ruptured, unsure if you’ll get that limit as well.
The 6 months will fly by! You’ve got this!!
surgeon told me no lifting anything over 20 pounds until I met my six month review and a visualize the aneurysm and flow diverter
Thanks! It will go fast! There’s a lot of things you can do in that weight range. Don’t forget to accept or ask for help when offered or needed.
So.pleased.to hear that surgery went well and you are recovering.
Keep up the good work xxx
