10 December 2024 - Welcome New Members!

Hey everyone! Please welcome our newest members to the community!

@Jane3 is in Michigan, United States. Jane had a ruptured 15 mm brain aneurysm in March and had two resulting surgeries: one for the blood accumulation and one for the endovascular coils. She was in the ICU for 2.5 weeks and inpatient rehab another 2.5 weeks. I hope she can find support in our community, especially with memory loss and feeling survivor’s guilt.

@Darkstar is in Oregon, United States. JD’s 74 year old mother has an unruptured 24 mm ICA brain aneurysm that is affecting her vision. They are looking for support as a caregiver and work to arrange a treatment plan. I hope this community can give them hope and help ease some fears as a caregiver.

@BecSaul is in Singapore. Rebecca was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm 6 years ago and is currently monitoring. Her two brothers also had brain and heart aneurysms, leading to genetic testing and found the genetic risk through her father. Through her son’s diagnosis of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, she was later diagnosed with ADHD as well. I hope this community can help give support from those with similar family histories.

@Ch_09 is in Maine, United States. Cassandra’s friend recently went to the ER for high blood pressure, confusion, dizziness, etc. and through testing found a brain aneurysm. He is waiting to hear from the neurosurgeon to discuss treatment options. I hope this community can help Cassandra support her friend in this new journey.

I hope everyone is doing well and feeling supported within the community. I encourage you all to continue sharing your stories and updates as well as seeking advice and asking questions. If you have any questions about posting on the forum, please contact @moderators and we will be glad to help.

Hi Jane3 and welcome to our community. If you have not read my profile, I ruptured in 2016, and I too feel extremely lucky. I was in hospital for 6.5 months (three hospitals in total with four surgeries); the last three were in rehab. It took a little while, but most of my older memories came back, I hope you can experience this too. It is my belief you should not have any feeling of guilt for surviving, your medical team did everything they could to make sure you survived so you should accept that you have survived because of their hard work. I still have some short term memory problems, but I’m thankful for my medical team (and doctor since) as well as the support of my wife.
