I had my brain aneurysm in 1999 and have been doing well ever since with my three extra children we have blessed to add to our family. But what I wanted to know is, does anyone know where in Orlando, Florida I can go to get my scans and see a good doctor? Plus, I want to know if there are anyone else in Orlando that has had one.
Thank you for the information. I may not get this until I get there as we are getting ready to move in a few days.
Moving can be stressful...I know I have done it almost every 3 years (husband job) for the last 25 years...infact, I moved to PA about 3 weeks ago...I moved from Indianapolis and Lakeland, Florida...I had my brain aneurysm surgery at Shands in Gainsville, FL, they are known for their Neurological trauma facility. I would recommend my Surgeon, but he left to go back to where he was from which was Australia. My neurologist is Dr. Edmund Grant in Tampa Florida...he is a wonderful Neurologist...infact, the best Doctor I have ever had in my 49 years of life...I am going to pass your post to all members on this site, because someone may be of help in the Orlando area...Good Luck with your move...~ Colleen
Barry, Is there a way you can send me a personal message with the phone numbers for either of these doctors? We are leaving on the 9th of this month so I need to know how to get a hold of them! Thank you SO MUCH for the info! You are being a GOD SEND to me!
I'm in West Kissimmee, by Davenport. I had strokes in 1999. I moved to Florida in 2007 and thankfully have not needed a doctor for anything but regular stuff, well I had my gallbladder removed but that's it.
I've had used Celebration Hospital for a few things, great place, would recommend it as a hospital.
Orlando Hospital is supposed to have a good Neurology dept.
Hi Winnie
I have had three brain aneurysms
All three coiled, one required a stent and one was a rupture
I had two years of speech and help with getting rid of vertigo
My speech thearpist started a journal calendar of which helped me in regaining my memory
I journaled my daily activities and could read and remember
I was and am a little slow at it
Infact I am a little slow now with my thinking And responses
I am slower at everything
I am glad to be alive
My Uncle grandma and Grandpa
All passed for aneurysms a minute after they burst
Hugs vicki
I had surgery in Orlando 1 year ago August 25th of this year. I went to the best hospital I could have IMO, Florida Hospital Orlando, 601 East Rollins Street Orlando, Florida 32803. If you check out their website there is a link for their treatment on aneurisms. https://www.floridahospital.com/orlando/brain-aneurysm
My neurosurgeon who did the surgery and continues to do my scans is Dr. Bellew. He is known for his wonderful bedside manner and expertise. I felt lucky to have him. His office address is 1606 W. Fairbanks Ave, Winter Park FL, 32789 and office phone is 407-■■■■■■■■.
I had a giant wide mouth over 1 1/2" big. I fell in the 3% of this type, size and location of aneurysm. I was lucky it was found before it burst. It was treated with a pipeline embolization device.
Let me know if you have any questions. The expertise is here in Orlando. Best of luck to you. I have my first year angiogram next month and he is doing it.
I live about an hour from Orlando-- in Sebring Fl. I had a SAH in 2011 and had a clip put on the rupture at that time in March. I just moved to Florida Myself about 3 months ago so I will possibly be looking for a good place for my check ups also.
Like Lauri said, the best Dr. in Florida is Dr. Harry Van Loveren he has saved my life 2 times once 6 years ago when I had 2 aneurysms. When then needed to go to the base of my brain to by pass my very large aneurysms and the second one were they able to clip.
I have constant check up and 16 months ago we found another one that had to be clipped. this man is a very gifted Dr. I have a close relationship with him because I need a CT every 6 months, because I have ledkin Factor V blood disorder witch leads to my blood clotting very easy.
It is a one hour trip to Tampa General Hospital from Orlando, one hour to see the best is not a lot of time.
Dr. Hellinger is fantastic. Aug 11, I will be having my one year check up. Office is extremely efficient. Dr. Hellinger, performed my coil embolization. I can not praise Dr. Hellinger, enough. Phone number (407) ■■■■■■■■. Good luck!
OMG!!! Winter Park is near where we live now. Thank you SO MUCH for the information! I will first have to get a doctor here for my family and then we can go from there. I am feeling better already about that.
Thank you SO MUCH for that info on the doctor, I hope he is close to where we live in Windermere. I really should get myself checked out because I want to be here AT LEAST until I'm 80, which means I need to make sure that my next 31 years are GREAT!! Thanks again for the info
