When do headaches stop

I have gotten worse!!! I spent Tues in ER. I was getting ready for work and bent over to get a bag out a cabinet and felt the horrific pain I once had before I new I had a B.A. it stopped then a few second later had it again and again and again. I screamed and starting crying. My husband came home from work and rushed me to the ER. I got morphine and a CT with and with out contrast. The said nothing was wrong with me. I was so scared that I had another leak rupture something was happening again. It has been 2 days now I have not had the same type of headache but I feel my head in a clap or something like that. I was going to start a new forum my primary doctor is thinking of neck arthritis. I think he is crazy because I even have pain and burning in my eyes and arthritis does do that to you.

I have not been to a neurologist yet next month. But I will not hold my breath, he will be able to do anything after reading everyone discussion. Maybe pain management is next for me.

Hi Kim. I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you faster.

Basically, I went back to work too soon. I was trying to keep up with my workload and began falling further and further behind. I got to the point where I had a headache 24/7 that would not let up. I started feeling severe anxiety and I could not stop crying. I spent the night in the hospital and they sent me home with heavy narcotics that helped quite a bit. Only problem was I still couldn't concentrate...on ANYTHING. You may not think about the mental/emotional aspect of an aneurysm, but they need just as much time...if not more...to heal.

Just don't be in a hurry.

Kim please get a second opinion, one you feel comfortable with and trust ‘your’ body. I will say a prayer for you-I would say it is probably nothing serious since you had the contrast and nothing showed up, but trust your feelings (document how your body feels so you don’t forget something when you see the doctor).

Thanks Lisa, I will start a journal. These good days and bad are so scary. My husband can barely sleep at night he is so worried. This last episode on Tues was bad. I never had headaches before this all happen. Believe it or not went to work the next day. But decided to have a co-worker drive me, just scared to drive not sure if I could get another attack on the head while driving. Light and prayers coming your way. Kim

HI Jamie thanks for your response. I was in ER again on Tues with horrific pain and if felt the same as the 1st one and scared me to death. But the Ct show nothing. Got morphine and sent home. Luckly that bad bad headaches has not returned. Just the usual pain in the head feeling like your head as been squized or something. The normal pain that some meds can help for the most part I guess. I will take it easy. thanks Are you working now or on disability?

Jennifer, Kim and All

Bells just went off again... that TMJ may be a symptom...and, an early symptom. I had my custom nightguard for 2+ decades before my (known) leaks/ruptures... still wear a nightguard.

Jennifer, which artery is your aneurysm on?

Kim ... fascinating you had TMJ several years ago....our aneurysms are in close location...your ophthalmic off internal carotid; mine is next branch off carotid, the posterior communicating artery.

Now you mention your ear; and, I definitely have problems w/my ear ... since treatment...

Have either of you had dry mouth before or after treatment?

My earliest memory post-D/C was awakening with my cheeks stuck to my teeth; it is still dry when I wake up, tho not nearly as bad... The parotid gland is just below the ear... essentially adjacent.

Pat

Kim,

Again, depending on the size of your company, you can have extremely busy work days...

Talk to your manager (whatever titles are used now); if possible, take some extra time off or try to cut your hours...i.e. 4-6 hours a day...try not to be too fatigued/stressed to maintain your performance level and to commute, especially if you drive. Driving is public safety, as well as our personal safety...

Essentially everyone on this site talks about fatigue, stress, headaches, vision problems, balance, dizziness, lack of concentration..some specificaly addressing vision / hearing problems. Some who went back full time, or attempted it, are on full disability.

Sooo we all need to decide whether we want to hear about the symptoms of our peers and not what the professionals are telling us... However, they have years of education, residency, fellowships, board certifications...and no known personal experience...except for Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D who authored The Stroke of Insight...

Please take good care of yourself to be sure you are healed / recovered.

Pat

Jamie,

So hope you are doing well. Did you return to work or go on disability?

I am one of the elders in this group...close to 3 decades back, I had pre-approved 6 weeks full pay disability for surgery...In my 3rd week @ home I was on a step-stool starting to sort the top shelf of a kitchen cupboard...Called in that I was ready to return...generated concern that I did not get too tired, etc...agreed I try 4 hr days...What's funny, is that I'd have been saying the same thing to my subordinates... Today...is another story...

It is beyond sad to see the purported medical advances...where minimally invasive treatment on the brain is considered insignificant...disgusts me.

Please let us know if you did get extended time off and able to return to work...

Pat

Pat what is thisnight guard you speak of? I seem to be clenching my teeth or something during the night now after surgery. Teeth are sore and jaw. Is this something I can purchase?

Thanks Margaret

Margaret...

They are similar to sportguards....Ask your dentist. They can be custom made which are fairly expensive but generally last for years. OTC brands have to be heated and set by ourselves; and replaced fairly often... Dr. and I just talked recently about my ordering new custom; I was so out-of-it after hospital, I crunched my custom and went to OTC brands. Name brand I get is The Doctor's NightGuard; there are other brands.

Before I start a new one, either custom design or OTC, I see my chiropractor for my body alignment...which is my choice...I am a believer in it. Had my memory been reasonabe, I'd have been back to my chiropractor before crunching my custom guard. My chiropractor practices what is called activator chiropractic which is a very mild, (and effective to me) form.

Cand use the denture cleaner tabs for nightguards.

Try research on the 'net...for both NightGuards, the name brand above, and TMJ.

Wishing you the best of luck...do talk with your dentist.

Pat

Kim,

I am so sorry to read this...hope you are feeling better. Did your neuro see/addres your CTA?

Now, with your pain and burning in your eyes, please call and get in to your neuro...because why would arthritis occur / re-act essentially overnight? Just my strong personal opinion...

Hugs and prayers to you,

Pat

Thanks Pat for your advise greatly greatly appreciated. Have not been on much. Still working just come home and in bed. I don;t know how much longer I can do this. Took today off. My husband is flying my sister in to see me. Cause he thought it would give something to look forward too. Going to nero next week. May talk to him about better meds or going on disability. Not sure our budget could handle that I could lose my house, doesn;t that add more stress. But we all go on… trying to stress free right. thanks Pat Light and prayers coming your way. Kim

Hi Pat -

mine was on the carotoid - how about you?

Sorry Pat for not responding sooner. I just now noticed that you asked me something. I must have been in La La land.

Aspirin is bad for us because it thins the blood down and increases the risk of it bleeding.

Ben,

Thanks for answering; I was not sure what you meant...I bruised/bled too readily on aspirin...reduced to baby aspirin size in apx 6 months; then I elected to give it up entirely...Yes, I mentally compared the risk of bleeding to death to possibly having clots...I take no meds.

Do NOT recommend anyone else do diffrently than is prescribed... do so hope everyone will puruse data on the FDA site and others and address any reaction issues w/their mds....

Pat

Jennifer,

Mine was on my left internal carotid (ICA) at the posterior communicating artery region...essentially on the PComA...

The ophthalmic branch is before the PCom; and, there's another one (memory blanked) after PCom... before the ICA bifurcates to two other arteries.

Do you know which segment yours was on and was it only on the one, same side as your aneurysm? I am such a personal (far from professional) believer that there are symptoms long before an aneurysm grows in size needing pre or post rupture treatment.

Thanks for getting back to me on this.

Pat

Kim,

Sooo hope you work out shortened hours for a period of time...please talk to your manager... Somehow, I do not think taking a week or so off fixes body / brain adjustments ... my personal opinion...

I am glad you'll see your neuro...and, more than delighted your hubby is bringing your sis in to be with you. He's a doll.

As for recovery...most all of us have lifestyle changes a/w/a potential adjustments in work to disability...changes in energy, finances, etc. Some day I can write some humor.

Wish a group of spouses would connect; they go thru so much from initial treatment, whether scheduled or emergency, and have their own work situations, often children to care for, etc etc... they need emotional support, too, as well as we do.

Blessings,

Pat

I think that if there was a place for the spouses could connect it would be wonderful. But some have enough to do (i think). Mine is very worried about me 24/7. talk soon.

Kim there is a spouse group on here under the group heading.
