Three days post angiogram and embolization with trial Seal-it Device

Hey everyone!

I’m home from the procedure. I had the angiogram and embolization with the Trial of the Seal It Device on Monday. I had a wonderful team at the Cleveland Clinic for my recovery overnight. I was discharged around 4:30PM on Tuesday.

I was dealing with some throbbing in my head and headache on Tuesday. Wednesday morning woke up and tried to shower, almost passed out and got super queasy. Heart rate was 48. I laid down and was fine after about a half hour. I spent most of the day with a pretty intense headache and just managed with Tylenol and lots of sleep.

I woke up today, Thursday, feeling better. The Leg they went into the groin gets a little tingly at times, I’m sure it’s part of recovery. Today I’m definitely a little more dizzy but able to get around better and no headaches so far.

I appreciate all the input and advice leading up to the procedure. It helped to be prepared and knowledgeable before and after. I’ll have a follow-up appt in six weeks and then I’ll be monitored every three months.

They did find another aneurysm during the procedure. It’s 1.5mm in anterior choroidal artery. They also mentioned I have very weak vessels - I am 37 and up until getting Covid in 2020, I was a very healthy human being. I do see a functional medicine doctor to help with the long lasting symptoms and dysregulated system since having Covid. I can’t help but wonder if all of this is stemmed partly from that. I’m guessing we will be monitoring the new aneurysm as it’s small and I’ll be in every three months.

They did go through my groin but I will say the area where they put the arterial pressure line in my wrist is actually quite tender when flexed.

Overall, I’m happy with the outcome. Bummed that there is another one but at least I can monitor that one.

It’s so nice to hear from you again and that the surgery was successful. Please take your time to rest, sleep and recover, the recovery cannot be rushed. Make sure that you eat well and that you are hydrated. Let your doctor know if the headache or dizziness doesn’t go away.
Get back to us again and tell us how you are doing.
All the best to you.

I’m right behind you, having the same procedure next month. I have a clipping from my rupture, now I have another aneurysm , so using the Seal it . Thank you so much for sharing :heartpulse: Apparently I’m missing a few blood vessels, will always be able to have aneurysms… thank you again so much for sharing

Happy to hear your surgery went well. Recovery takes time. Take the time to heal. :blue_heart: it took me about a week to finally get up and start doing things slowly. there’s still things i’m learning to deal with post-surgery (march will be a year) but i can say i am grateful for life, and the minimum affects i will be dealing with.
Prayers and thoughts are with you. Take care.

Don’t forget to hydrate well and eat protein, check with your doc on how much protein you should have. For me it’s 90 grams a day which is what the RDN told me. That odd feeling in your wrist from the A-line sounds like they may have nicked a nerve as does the issue you mentioned about your groin area. I had similar experiences, It’s what my doc said happened, it will pass.

I’m definitely having weird discomfort in the pelvic area at times on the right side. Wondering if maybe it’s from the procedure and maybe the artery still healing from the procedure. Overall I’m back to my normal routine and back to work. I have had to be careful pulling, pushing or lifting anything because I will get the discomfort in my pelvis. I’m not lifting more than 10-15lbs. I also have noticed my right leg gets what I would call like a static/tingly feeling and it creeps all the way up and down and then goes away. If you have any input on this - I would like to hear your thoughts. I’m sure this is all the healing process.

Of course I’m not a doctor so first thing would be to reach out to them. I was finally taught to use my portal rather than calling. I miss speaking to the one or two triage RNs. That being said, I think it’s the nerves that causes the sensation in your right leg. The plugs all felt different to me, some more bothersome than others. I’d call in because it didn’t feel right, sometimes a great deal of pressure even whilst walking, one caused a burning sensation which was not a walk in the park due to the pain. RN spoke with Dr. Q-W who would let the RN know they used a different plug. The plug that caused that burning sensation was checked out, nothing wrong with it. I told her to stop using it🤣.

I think that when they cut into you to put in the catheter they have to cut through everything skin, fat layer, muscle and finally the artery. Thing is those areas they have to cut through has nerves and I’m guessing some of them are more sensitive than others. It takes awhile for those nerves to reconnect and while they’re doing it, we can get numerous different sensations. We also get a bit of scar tissue that forms and can take some time getting used to.

I wish I knew how a severed nerve reconnects. I know they do because the ER Dr told me way back in the late ‘70’s when I accidentally cut down to the bone on my finger with a butcher knife right before a blind date. The date took me to the ER. We had lots of time to talk and get to know each other.

What weight limit and for how long did they give you? Absolutely follow that one!
