@ModSupport
I don’t know what to say but I feel sorry for you, really sorry . Hang in there, that’s the only thing you can do.
Thank you for sharing this update, Merl. It is triggering thoughts of successful healing your way. Cho Ku Rei.
I got the call this morning. Seems I’m up for the chop-chop on the 6th. 5 days to go and I’ll be counting down each one. I won’t say I’m panicking, more resolved to the fact, but that doesn’t mean my mind isn’t travelling at a million miles an hour with all of those ‘What if…?’ type questions.
Merl
Hi, Merl. Knowing something definitive is often less stressful than not knowing anything either way. And what you describe as your mind traveling at a million miles an hour is often described by others as our monkey mind. Here is a very simple and thought-free procedure (below) that does a very effective job of bringing our thoughts to a much needed rest. It can be performed any time and any place, and as often as you would like too. God speed the next 5 days in your journey to recuperative good health. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WFV1V8F-gQ
He has a really soothing voice Peter, thanks for sharing!
@ModSupport
I will be thinking of you and praying for your recovery.
I wish I had some helpful words. Peace be with you.
Ohh, don’t worry, I have the words… …but none of them should be used here
One of my biggest self-battles have been accepting the fact: I have no control.
I can be a bit of a control freak. I am in control of me, but here in this situation, I have no control.
I can’t say I’m at peace with it all but I can say I accept it (OK, so, semi-accept )
Merl
Sometimes, it is enough to not resist a situation or condition even if you cannot embrace it (aka accept). It is resistance that drains our cognitive and bodily energies.
OK people, I’m signing off for a couple of days and I’ll see you all on the other side.
Thank you for the support. It means a lot, a hell of a lot, so thanks.
Merl
Best of luck to you Merl!
Good luck Merl. We’ll be anxiously awaiting news…
I will forward all of your well wishes to Merl
Sharon
Firstly, I want to thank you all for the support, it’s all very much appreciated.
I had the biopsy taken and they removed my tonsils. They believe that it was just an abscess, but I’m still waiting for the pathology results. I have another neuro appointment Friday and I’m hoping that they will come back saying no craniotomy will be needed. I’ll let you know when I know.
Thanks again
Merl
Don’t try to eat a T-Bone steak, go for the sherbet and Jello instead! Just a bit of experience talking.
@ModSupport
We are all hoping for a positive result from the pathology test of your tonsils and off course from your appointment with your neurosurgeon.
When I was in my mid forties I had a similar problem with my tonsils, I had an infection that didn’t go away, it became a small abscess and it was worse on the right side. We decided to remove the tonsils and when the pathology results came back it showed that it was just an infection and the tonsils were atrophied. The surgeon said that no matter how much antibiotics they would give me, it would never get rid of the infection due to the atrophy.
I’m hoping that you get a similar result.
It will take a while for the throat to heal so go easy on the food. Scrambled eggs, soup, bananas, ice cream anything soft that you can think of.
All the best to you.
Thanks @oct20
And that’s the hope/wish.
I’ve also got the ache of them removing ALL of my bottom teeth, so I’m dealing with both together. Add that to the regular headache and I’m keeping myself well dosed up
I agree it’ll take a bit to settle, but I expected that. It’s interesting that you say about soft foods because that’s what I had the wife make, but the hospital recommend cold toast, buttered, for the day after . But I was too chicken to even consider that, I had milk moist (saturated) cereal. Not quite as course. I waited a few days before trying toast. They reckon it clears the layer of dead mucosal cells, seemingly to aid healing. But the day after, toast?? Ohh hell no. I’m no self-masochist
Merl
@ModSupport I feel sorry for you, but you seem to be in a good spirit after all. I agree with the toast, that was a strange breakfast to recommend. I guess the pain will gradually get better day by day and we are all waiting to hear back from you.
