Hello. I had a rupture September 2022. My left eye is still slow in processing. The best way for me to describe it is it feels like I have the wrong contact in my left eye.
According to the optometrist my eyes are 20/20 (with contacts), my left eye is just slower to process.
She prescribed Syntonac light therapy where I sit in the sunlight for 20 minutes a day with colored glasses on.
My question - has anyone seen success from this light therapy? There isn’t much on the internet about this particular therapy. Is there another therapy that I should look into?
Can I say, I’ve never heard of this before but it sounds fascinating! That the different colour filters impact different activities in the brain is utterly fascinating and I can’t help but correlate in my mind the fact that people with dyslexia sometimes find different colour filters take away the animation of words on the page. Very interesting.
I assume you’ll be receiving treatment with red or orange filters to try to provoke your slower eye into action. I have to say, I shall be interested to know how you get on.
If others have had this treatment, it would be interesting to know.
Best wishes,
Richard
p.s. I found “syntonic phototheraphy” by searching online. It may be you’ve not found so much if you’ve spelled it differently when searching.
Thats very interesting. I’m doing vision therapy trying to get my left eye to adjust faster. I’m not far enough along to say if it will work or not. I’d love to know how well this works. Please keep us posted on how it goes!
Thanks! I am actually using Violet, Blue, and Green glasses. It appears the brand of glasses/ the therapy is named SYntonac. Thank you for pointing out syntonic phototherapy - I feel a little better seeing some additional studies on this type of therapy.
The Syntonac therapy is not covered by any insurance, I had to pay about $500 for testing, and for the glasses, and then I have to pay another $300 for testing after a month. I did not really consider anything of it until after I paid… After consideration and some quick googling, I felt that I was possibly scammed. So I came to this forum to see if anyone has used this sort of therapy. Hopefully it works!
I am doing therapy for convergence insufficiency with a vision therapist. It has helped, but every time I have a new flow diversion stent placed (just had a third one) I get a little setback. I’m not sure if it will solve all my problems but I now have less headaches after working on a computer much of the day. My issues were triggered by an ischemic stroke during my first surgery for an unruptured aneurysm. I’ve done 8 weeks of therapy and I am about to start another set of 8. It should end after 16 - 24 weeks, so we’ll see how it goes.
I wonder if real sunlight and just sunglasses with the filter would work. Maybe you can get your doctor to provide a prescription and then go to a nice sunny place and it would be paid by insurance! All kidding aside, I agree that this is very interesting. I wish you luck that it improves your eyesight.
