Hi all.
Sadia here from Pakistan. I suffered alot for 10 long years with neck pains, brain fog, memory issues, difficulty to find words, eye floaters and pulsatile tinnitis. It took 10 years to daignose that I have right venous sinus stenosis and sigmoid sinus diverticulum. In my country health professionals have no idea about brain stents. So I travellled to NY for my treatment. I got two stents in my right transverse sinus and three big coils in my right sigmoid sinus aneurysm. Pulsatile tinnitis gone immidiately I woke up after my surgery. Its been one year now.I have to get my one year scan done here locally. My doctor asked for MRV head. I am curious about the safety of an MRI …though they say that its safe.
Morning Sadia! When I got my stent, I received a card that indicates what MRI settings are good I think it is. I received it prior to being released the next day and was told to keep it on me at all times. If you didn’t get your card, reach out to your surgeon.
I have my cqrd with me.But in my country they do not perform MRI of people with metal in brain.
"Can I have an X-Ray, CT scan or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) after a stent?
Yes, X-Ray’s and CT scans can be done. Stents are typically MRI-compatible, meaning most people can still have an MRI once the stent in place. However, before MRI testing, patients should check with their doctor and the MRI facility to confirm the type of stent they have and also the field strengths used at the MRI facility." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3317336/#:~:text=Yes%2C%20X-Ray’s%20and%20CT%20scans%20can%20be%20done.,the%20field%20strengths%20used%20at%20the%20MRI%20facility.
Hi
Thanks for getting back to me.Coils are also MRI compatible? I have three big coils in my sigmoid sinus diverticulum supported by two stents at the junction of transverse and sigmoid sinus.
Yes. I just had an MRA, with and without contrast, performed for a check on my annie with stent-assisted coils. No problemo.
Thanku so much. I will try here in my country to satisfy them by showing my card.In Pakistan health professionals have no idea about brain stents.
