I had coiling and stenting of a basilar aneurysm that was not ruptured but symptomatic. I’d had a terrible headache so had CT and it was found so angiogram was recommended and it was found to be 11mm and near brain stem so repair was done on August 21st. I’ve had headaches daily since. I did not have headaches before. Just rarely. I’m wondering if this will be my new normal or if there is hope they will get better and eventually and I’ll have some headache free days. Has anyone had similar procedure and have a success story to share.
I am new to this life too (July 28). We found out that a lot of my pain is driven by head to shoulder blade muscular tightness. Getting into physical therapy and them working on muscle massage and dry needling has been a major help to reducing the amount of head pain I have. Sitting/posture has also been a big factor impacting my head pain as well, making sure I am not slouching.
I can’t sit for long periods of time either without pain. Excessive screen time and extreme lighting also impact me.
I also drink a lot more clear fluids throughout the day and when I don’t drink throughout the day it makes my pain worse.
Thank you for your reply. I wondered if posture and tension might be a factor. I’ve definitely been drinking lots of fluids which helps. I will look into physical therapy and dry needling. I find walking is a big help but seems so temporary. I wish you luck. Hopefully we will both be writing a different story in a few months where we can say we are headache free a majority of the time.
@ss7696 I hope yours resolve soon. PT, guided relaxation, and time helped mine. Definitely let your medical team know though.
Welcome and thank you so much for creating your first topic! Way to go! Both @ss7696 and @Shinykai share some wonderful suggestions for you. The only things I’d add is to eat protein, ask your doc about how much you should be getting. The other would be to practice relaxation breathing. Definitely let your medical team know what’s going on, easiest way I’ve learned is through your patient portal.
I’m sorry you are going through this. Just a suggestion from my experience: You may want to see a headache specialist. I saw one about 2 years after my rupture and he put me on a dose of BP medication that’s used off-label for migraines. I have had significant improvement in my headaches and almost total reduction of the shooting head pains. Might be worth investigating if nothing else works for you. Good luck.
