I have been painting watercolor for many years as a hobby. It is very relaxing.
After my SAH in October 2020, one of my sons asked me to paint something to my neurosurgeon as a gift of gratitude for what he and his team did for me. I survived and my grownup children are forever grateful for that.
On my first follow up I brought a new painting that I made just some weeks before, I framed it and gave it to him and asked him to put it somewhere so he could share it with his team. It was a painting of a backroad not far from our home.
When I gave it to him, after my little speech I could see how his eyes became emotional.
Here it comes, I hope it is an inspiration for you all.
@oct20 -
Lena, wow that is so beautiful!
I will admit it certainly looks very familiar to me when I cross the river, so whether it is what I am thinking of or not, it definitely brings back happy memories of Pennsylvania, Love your talent, and thanks for sharing!
That is first class!
Absolutely beautiful!
It’s truly fantastic!
I’m glad you’re practicing your drawing every day that’s a huge step forward! We all need a bit of “me time” and to wind down.
You’ve got a lot on your plate, a lot with the two kids and an aneurysm, my goodness! Are you able to go out on a date night? I’d set the rules about not discussing children or aneurysms for the few hours, just focus on yourselves if that makes sense.
I might be a bit of a perfectionist, I’m certainly anal especially Holiday decorations so says BH and I’m told sometimes I get so picky I overwhelm myself.. I guess I’m my own worst enemy. When I start riding the emotional roller coaster, I breathe. Well ok, I breathe all the time or I wouldn’t be here @FinWhaleFan
. But I do concentrate on doing my relaxation breathing which is an incredible skill to have. I learned a different technique back in the ‘70’s then what’s on YouTube now and that’s what I taught to all my clients and their parents over the years.
Hi @Mad – joining your little welcome party a little late… so much to read lol! This was me reading about your past year and a half
Your story made me wonder how much the gushing blood flow of pregnancy kind of exacerbates having an aneurysm… my neurosurgeon suggested that some people are born with the aneurysm(s) and then I suppose it grows in size with unmitigated high blood pressure. I carried two pregnancies and my second was with twins – the latter are 16 y.o.s now, but I have to wonder if that contributed to my aneurysms’ growth and I was just traipsing around with two aneurysms all these years.
You already know this, but I found that the bright side to your story (i.e. outside of NOT having one) is that you found the aneurysm, it was unruptured, and having them coiled and stented keeps that in check. I am 50 and I suppose, another plus for you is that you are relatively young and hopefully your post-angio fatigue perhaps subsides sooner… 'cause you certainly need your energy for your two young boys I always refer to Emily Clarke from GOT who had a rupture at age 24, at the end of season 1, which means she did the rest of 5 seasons while recovering.
I am also eager to see your art – I am one of the “hobby” artists on here. My neurologist friend indeed advised me that drawing and painting reconnects a different part of your brain and definitely a huge positive for healing and recovery! You have inspired me to do a daily art journal, so maybe I’ll go do that now Here is my latest watercolor from a photo in Trinidad.
Kimoy, that’s amazing. Love it.
Ironically I used to sketch and dabble in watercolor and collage. For a long while was obsessed with pottery and wheelthrowing. For me, post aneurysm repairs, stroke, etc I’ve totally lost the desire. I’m lucky when i can finish a full day at work. Now my wheel is covered with plastic and a fortune in paints and clay are slowly drying out. Hopefully one day inspiration will sneak up me again. It will probably be when it is all so dry that rather than consider reconstituting them, I’ll toss/give them away. Then within months I’ll be buying it all back! That’s usually how things work, lol!
@Karla
Wonderful painting! Keep up the good work!
Can’t express well enough how much I enjoy looking at other’s hobbies! Well done!
