Kristi - sorry for the pain and depression you are going through. Stronger medication isn’t always the answer, it’s finding the right one. I was on Naproxen when I first got out of ICU with hydro codeine and Tramadol. I weaned myself off of the Tylenol3 within two weeks because I can’t take Acetomeniphine. I let my doctor know what I was doing. When I was twenty something I woke up in hospital with severe liver damage from being on Acetomeniphine based drugs for over nine or ten years following a car accident. Then I met my first Neurologist about 8 or 9 months after my rupture. He discussed with me “secondary headaches”. These are headaches brought on by medication, side effects. So I weaned off the Naproxen. It helped me to some degree and by that time I was ready for anything to help. The Tramadol I didn’t use much because I saved that for my back’s bad days.
Perhaps your PCP can help locate a neurologist for your pain and depression. If there’s no Psychiatrist, many therapists can help teach ways to deal with depression. It’s a never ending circle of is the pain causing the depression or the depression increasing our intolerance to pain. While your waiting for medical help, there are steps you can do - stop watching the news and violent movies or shows. Get some form of excercise daily, even a short walk will do wonders.
This is a good place to start if you are in crisis:
First take a deep breath, then call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline immediately. 1-800-273-TALK for members in the United States.
For international members, please visit http://www.suicide.org/international-suicide-hotlines.html for information on where to call.
Kristi- we are all here for you. We know lots of ways that "annie" affects patients. It might sound foolish but have you ever taken a bag of frozen peas and held it at the base of your skull?
I was wondering about pain management also.i had a subnorachnoid hemorage on nov21. Just had my flap put back on the 9th. I have literally been in pain since i woke up on Sunday nov.23 can’t take hydrocodone makes me wired. They gave me Oxycodone 15mg. It like taking tic tacs. I do take feorecet that seems to help. Makes me sleepy.i was taking the oxygen in between the feorecet and that worked better. But Oxycodone is not as easy to get a scrip for from my doc. Does anyone know of something else i can suggest to him? I don’t know much about mefications. Never needed them till now.
Try the Ultram 10mg with one ES Tylenol twice a day
Someone on this site mentioned biofeedback, neurofeedback to help with headaches.
Wow this one is an oldie but goodie! I’ve closed it hoping folks will start new topics and moved it to the General Discussions.
