Morning world! It’s a beautiful slightly nippy with the breeze this morning. I’ve been having weeks of bad brain days, I think since the second week of August. I’ll be getting my MRI/A’s for everything the end of this week, finally! BH has to drive me for a couple of reasons, we’d already decided that when it was scheduled for 4:55 pm since I don’t like driving when there’s a lot of traffic. But this last week has stopped me from driving until my brain gets better. I had set out to take the trash to the convenience site and then to the Veterinary clinic and return a couple of t-shirts we were gifted, too big for me. Ended up passing the place we take our trash to and straight to the clinic. Speech was really hard to understand and I had to use a lot of the skills I’ve learned from my STs. I did remember to stop at the convenience site on the way home. But for some reason I did not recognize the road I was on at some point and was looking for my turn. Ended up I had already made the turn. When I got home, I decided no more driving for a while.
Driving is a privilege, it is definitely not a right, is it? I figure if I can’t be mindful when I’m driving, I certainly shouldn’t be behind the wheel.
Mr. Curley has been a great support this week, well all the time really, but he’s been here four days this week. He spends about four hours usually, he has other jobs he does. He’s been really worried about my bad days and even called BH. But he let me put in the shims needed for the dog bathroom, it took me a few days. First I thought I could just use drywall pieces and cut those up but for some reason they stood proud of the drywall that the guy put up. I bet that guy’s ears burned. He has messed up the envelope by cutting the membrane, folding some of it up behind the drywall and then not taking the drywall all the way down. The way it’s supposed to be is the mineral wool goes between the studs, the membrane that goes on top of it down to the floor and out about an inch, then the drywall down to the membrane.
Ended up having to pull some staples out to get the wood shims in which I just realized this moment was probably the reason the drywall pieces I started out with didn’t fit, dang gum it! See? Bad brain days! Each shim had to be cut lengthwise to fit so this all took several days. Mr. Curley would have me stop a lot. Thursday, he thought I was talking to him, when in fact I was having a conversation with the dogs. This made him more concerned. It made me confused lol. Of course I have conversations with the girls, they are with me all the time, who else would I talk to? I guess I don’t usually have conversations with them when he’s around.
This all is leading nowhere and everywhere isn’t it? See bad brain days. But it’s just a reminder that we need to be aware of when we have them. It’s also a reminder to check your support system. Are you isolating yourself? Do you also have conversations with your pets? Mr. Curley doesn’t have any pets, no animals at all in his home. He does have kids and grandkids, so maybe he just doesn’t get it. Until they figure out what’s going on in my brain, I’ll definitely be leaning on y’all, you’re the best support group ever in my belief! And I’ll be doing a good bit of reading. Based on a recommendation from a very nice, supportive person, I’m currently reading “Demon Copperfield”. I was forewarned, it’s not a book for everyone so I’ll pass that warning on to y’all. Right now I’m at the funny part. I’ll also let you know the book is pretty thick with small print. Just had my eyes checked a few months ago, but I think I need glasses LOL.
