Obstacles into opportunities

It is the most shattering experience of a young man’s life when one morning he awakes and quite reasonably says to himself, “I will never play the Dane.”

This line is spoken by Uncle Monty in the film Withnail and I. He’s reflecting on how, as a younger actor, he had to deal with the inevitability he would never portray Hamlet. While I am not an actor, though I was a theater major at one point, I have had to reconcile that many of the goals I had before the aneurysm will be different now. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be worse. Where I once saw obstacles, I now see opportunities. I may never portray Hamlet, but perhaps I will portray Horatio.
