Not sure what to do

I’ve had a stroke 6 years ago causing a major Blocked artury. I have an aneurysm that has grown to 4. The surgeons would not do work on the aneurysm but now there is a dr who want to through my arm but I’m worried since there is brain damage and a lost artery that I should not. I’m not sure what to do.

It’s so difficult to understand medicine sometimes, well most times, unless someone has practiced in the field isn’t it? I think for me, I’d be wanting to know if I had any other arteries that are even semi blocked, what artery I had that was blocked and if the new doctor would be trying to get to my brain through the blocked artery. If you’re still with a cardiologist, I’d ask them as well.

I’ve had one angiogram where they went through the radial artery, it was by far the easiest on me. I was a bit apprehensive about it until I read other members experience with using the arm.

I’m guessing the 4 is in mm and not cm, is that correct?

I’m not sure isn’t it mm??? I’m so confused. Did you have surgery done?

I ruptured, so yes, I did have coiling done the morning after I ruptured.

Hey, @Chauntel

When you say the surgeon wants to go through your arm, I assume you’re talking either about having an angiogram done or something like embolisation or stenting done?

I also understand that you had a stroke some years ago which has left you with perhaps only one arterial route through part of your brain?

I’d have thought that if the doc was to do an angiogram, they’d be able to see in detail what is what and if your options are still “can do nothing” then they’d be able to see that plainly. I’d definitely want the angiogram before agreeing to any work.

Best wishes,

Richard
