Just heard that I am booked for 15th July for my surgery. I have been warned that it could be cancelled if there is no HD bed available in neurosurgery, so fingers crossed.
Thanks to everyone for replying to my other messages. I really appreciate you all xxx
Great news! Will they tell you before you leave home if there’s a bed available or is it just a hit and miss? When she put my stent in, I had a bed in NSICU but they had to move me to another unit as the man that was moving in needed the better care.
Well, technically, it is the 15th for you, but I certainly hope you are resting and not on your way to surgery just yet!!
Apologies, finally logging off from work, but I have been thinking of you all day and just wanted to send along my good wishes for today (my tomorrow). Hoping it actually goes off this time!
So surgery was cancelled again, this time after a 7.5 hours in admissions lounge. Staff were better at communicating what was going on today, but feel gutted and cried when they told me. So feel like a real idiot. They now have to ring to make another appointment but it is my son’s graduation a week on Friday. So it is going to have to wait until after that.
That’s as hard as anything. I think crying was exactly the thing to do, so well done! There no need to feel silly for crying: I think it just shows the scale of impact of the system’s failure.
Have a fantastic time at the graduation! My son’s graduation is next Thursday.
Absolutely nothing wrong with crying, ever! The ability to be able to cry out of frustration, fear, pain, sadness, etc is a gift. Many times we have carers in our young lives or adults we look up to that tell us not to cry which is bovine feces in my opinion!
I’m in agreement with everyone, enjoy the graduation it’s a very big deal! Isn’t it wonderful you get to see him receive his diploma! Do they give the diplomas out in the UK or do they give the graduate a rolled up paper and send the degree through the post? Does he get a party afterwards? Is he planning a holiday before going into his field or back to school for another degree?
Please tell him congratulations for us! Oh and ask him to give you a hug from all of us!
