My little sister, Faith has an unruptured aneurysm

Good morning all,

My little sister Faith has an unruptured aneurysm (notified yesterday morning). She is 36 years old, single mother of two beautiful girls and is a fighter (put herself through college). We lost our father when we were teenagers (13 &14) and have very little family support.

Can anyone reccomend a great doctor for surgery in the Houston area? We live in Lake Charles La. but would prefer to go to a specialist in Houston.

She is schedueld for an angiogram this coming Tuesday.

Your guidance and prayers are very much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Rick

Rick,
I was treated in April for an unruptured aneurysm by a dr Richard klucznick in Houston. He is a radiologist, neuroradiologist. I would highly recommend him if your sister’s aneurysm can be coiled. He is in the medical center at Methodist. He did my angiogram and embolization. He came highly recommended to me and I would not hesitate to recommend him to my best friend. He saved my life. If your sister has to be clipped I would go to Dr. Day. He is not too keen on embolizations (more pro clipping) but is a great neuro surgeon. He is also in the medical center but practices at memorial Herman. Dr. Day was referred to me by my neurologist. Good luck and let me know if you have further questions. I go back in October for my follow up angiogram.

Hello Rick, So sorry to hear abut your sister. She is lucky to have your support. I am not familiar with the Houston area, but there is bound to be someone on this forum who can help you. Not sure why you prefer the Houston area. Since you are in the southeast, have you considered Emory Hopital in Atlanta GA? It is considered one of the best for treating aneurysms. Many of the Forum members have been treated there and could recommend neurosurgeons. My prayers to you and your sister. Take Care, Mary

Dr. Dong Kim is my neurosurgeon in Houston. He is treating my unruptured cerebral AVM. During my first Gamma Knife radiation treatment for the AVM, he also discovered an unruptured aneurysm. During the craniotomy to clip the aneurysm, a second aneurysm was found & clipped.

If you watched any of the press conferences about Gabby Giffords recovery while in Houston, you saw Dr. Kim. He's the one who talked to the media about her going to Florida to see the space shuttle launch and about the piece of artificial skull they were implanting.

Here's his info:

Hi Rick,

Y. Jonathan Zhang is my doctor. He is both a neurosurgeon and an interventional radiologist. He is at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

I have also heard good things about Dr. Kim at Memorial Hermann. He operated on Gabriel Giffords and a member od my church.

FYI: Recent hospital ratings publsihed in the Houston Chronicle gave an edge to Methodist Hospital.

May God bless you and your sister during this very difficult time.

Carole
