Hi everyone.
Some of you wanted me to post the result of my MRA, four years after the ruptured aneurysm. The message came in my patient portal this evening.
The last sentence goes like this:
“ No significant change status post coil embolization of proximal right anterior communicating artery aneurysm. No evidence of aneurysm filling or new aneurysm.”
To my understanding it means that everything looks good. I’m going back to my neurosurgeon in a couple of weeks for a follow up. It will be interesting to hear what he says.
Today is a good day ![]()
Today is a great day with news like that! Congratulations!
@Moltroub
Thank you ![]()

Echoing @Moltroub, it is FANTASTIC news - in my layperson, non-medical opinion!! I am so thrilled for you - and yes, I think you definitely are entitled to chocolate cake (or insert your favorite item of choice!!). ![]()
@FinWhaleFan
Thank you
.
The report must be stating that everything looks good, that’s what I think too.
I’ll get some vanilla ice cream
.
Parents were raised in Armstrong Co PA and there was a drugstore/soda counter that made what the place called “Mexican Sundaes” - Vanilla ice cream, Spanish peanuts topped with Hershey’s chocolate. Mom would get irate with Dad for going through ¼ can of Hershey’s chocolate, he’d just reply he was using the rest of my share.![]()
@Moltroub
It sounds delicious ![]()
It’s almost like we had the same parents… ![]()
Our biggest triumph is when my dad bought a guy home from work. We had chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, double-chocolate ice cream (remember when chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips was a thing!
), and Hershey’s on top. Ahhh, the good ol days when I could eat like that!!
Congratulations @oct20 that does sound like what you’d want!
All this discussion on chocolate is taking me back to school days for some reason. In the UK it used to be a thing that for lunch at school you’d have occasionally a chocolate sponge (= chocolate cake) served with a hot chocolate sauce (= chocolate flavoured custard). British food being what it was, this was pretty much highlight of the month!
It’s a long time since I’ve thought about chocolate sponge and chocolate sauce! ![]()
@Dick D -
That sounds wonderful - I am totally game!
So, the plan now is at this “conference” of ours (which is NOT going to happen I remind myself!), we are 100% going to have vanilla ice cream in honor of @oct20! Then - as side dishes - the rest of us will have chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce; chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (American buttercream is my fave); Mexican sundaes as just a start! Hmmm, guess there should be something else in there that is slightly healthier, huh?? ![]()
If I win the lottery, I will 100% tour the US in the hunt for my online rare disease friends. I shall have to bring some recipes with me.
The biggest snag so far is that I don’t do the lottery…
Ha, me neither! Will instead go for the alternate plan of it raining cash all over us instead - yeah, that will work! ![]()
@FinWhaleFan
@DickD
What about an Ice Cream and Chocolate Cake Gofund.me fundraiser to make it happen and we can make a big party for all of us ![]()
Hershey and the chocolate factory is not that very far from where I live
.
Unfortunately we’re not allowed to run fundraisers on here – when it comes to raising money for patients, we’re all in need and it could change the nature of what Ben’s Friends forums are about, so we don’t allow fundraisers – but if you find a different place to run a fundraiser, that’d be perfect!
I did promise myself I’d visit one person in the US for how much they touched my own travails with these sort of things but unfortunately he passed away from another illness a couple of summers ago. So I’m in need of other good reasons to come to the States.
@DickD
Don’t worry. It was just a joke. We needed to laugh at the suggestion of having a party.
@DickD - You had better let us all know if you make it over here! By hook or by crook, I would find a way to track you down. ![]()
See, here I was thinking we should go visit all our friends in Australia, but anywhere works for me! (OMG, you can imagine the cognitive reserve that would be required for that! Still would like to make it one day though…) But @oct20, Hershey is less than 3 hours away from me, so that is probably a much more realistic plan!
[There I go again, getting carried away with these crazy ideas of mine …]
I know but I thought I’d mention the issuette with fundraisers.
Seriously, I will need to come and see some folk in the States. You guys are definitely on ze list!
And anyone who makes it to the Midlands of England is welcome to pop out for coffee or lunch. I’ve not declined an invite yet.
@FinWhaleFan
It’s about the same distance for me. On top of that our University produces the most delicious ice cream , when my husband brings home a half gallon bucket I can empty it very quickly. When my A1C went amok I had to confess to my primary care physician that I ate too much ice cream. He said that he didn’t blame me, but everything needed to be in moderation.![]()
@oct20 -
That would definitely be a problem for me, too!
I am glad I don’t live near your University. My best bet is to keep sweets out of the house entirely, as I have no self-control when it gets in. Except when I forget … which reminds me that I have a pint in the freezer from last week. (No, I am not going to partake just yet! ![]()
