I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm 3-4mm on ophthalmic artery by MRI. At my first appointment with neurosurgeon he said we could do stent/pipeline if I desired because I was the fourth in my family to be diagnosed. My mom, aunt, and great uncle all suffered from a rupture; my mom and aunt survived. The neurosurgeon wanted a CTA which I was ok with and we were supposed to talk about a date for surgery at my next appointment.
Well my next appointment came and he said the radiologist thought it wasn’t an aneurysm based on my CTA, but it was an abnormality. No big deal he said just be sure to be scanned every 5 years. The appointment lasted maybe 2 minutes. I was happy but confused…
I’m my mother’s caregiver and had to take her to see her neurosurgeon after she had her yearly CTA. After reading her report online, it said she had coils visible and no aneurysms were viewed… At her appt her neurosurgeon said that report was absolutely false! She does NOT have coils, she has clips because he did the crainotomy. And, she DOES have another aneurysm he was able to see by viewing the images.
I was talking to my mom’s surgeon about what was going on with me and he said he’d trust the images more so than what the radiologist reported. My mom’s surgeon is out of network for insurance, so I’ll have to pay out of pocket for the appt but I am going to see him in May.
Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Thank you
