Limbic system

A wonderful resource on the limbic system which is a small portion of the temporal lobe... and so commonly known as the "emotion brain" and more.

https://www.dartmouth.edu/~rswenson/NeuroSci/chapter_9.html

this article notes "the limbic system has been conceptualized as the

"feeling and reacting brain"...interposed between the "thinking brain" and the output mechanisms of the nervous system.

The hippocampus area also relates to our "learning to long-term-memory"... by some neuros...and the related neuro-diseases: Alzheimer's, MS, and Parkinson's...

Other diseases/dementias are also in related portions of the temporal lobe; there are also injuries/wounds can/may be healed/recovered...and, realigned/shifted to other related parenchyma...(if I remember correctly)...PositScience notes this as "re-paving" in its "Brain Fitness" program. Forgive my possibly non-clarity in words. They have many more programs a/w/a the brain info...if I recall, they now have a "sample" for intro and, the programs/membership has a fee. One of these days, I will rejoin...

ADDICTION is also in the Limbic System... there is a blog on smoking...and, oddly I was already elarning some things from my research/study...

Some websites...a few of the many...

AUDITORY... Just search: The Role of the Limbic System: The Hearing Journal

I could not get the "site #" on this to send/receive...

Thank you Pat. I am reading all your posts.

Campanile...thank you...

We have had numerous members concerned about smoking...This limbic system area, aka the 'emotion brain' aka the 'medial temporal lobe' ... addiction(s) is covered here on info on the limbic system.

Campanile...one more thing on this limbic system: the Pineal Gland which is somewhat higher (how many mm's or a cm is unknown by me) in our brain, the limbic system area, than the pituitary gland.

I have been working on (drafting) basics on the Endocrine system...because the hypothalamus connects to, and is the main control, of the pituitary.

Typically, when searching: limbic system anatomy and physiology, the pineal may be shown in an image/draft; but is not be defined w/all the rest. The pineal is aka the "3rd eye"...

Eventually, I will list the endocrine system websites and basics here.. .

Another website....the size of the limbic system... apx of a walnut...

http://brainanatomy.net/str9.html It has much more data than the size.. .
