Lifting heavy weights (long) after clipping

Hey all! Hope everyone is well. I am now 2.5 year post clipping of unruptured aneurysm and thankful for every day.

I have long since been back into my running and other cardio, but I was curious as to what kind of advice people have been given in relation to getting back into heavy lifting? And/or if anyone has done it, how they found it??

Thanks

Mine ruptured so not sure if it makes a difference but my limit is supposed to be 40 pounds. Do I follow it? Nope. It’s much easier to carry two cinder blocks than one. When Dr. Q-W asked what I was up to and found out I was relocating cinder blocks so I could get some lumber cut, she scheduled me for my stent. I don’t lift weights in a gym. Besides reaching out to your surgeon you might consider more reps rather than more weight. This is a great question, I can’t wait to read what limits other members have been told!

Hi @Moltroub @Curious1

I agree that this is a great question. I ruptured almost 6 years ago , got some coils, and 6 months later I got a stent and additional coils. At my last checkup almost 2 years ago I was told that my aneurysm was fully occluded and the stent had been embedded in the artery - as it should do. I was told to live a “normal” life. During the last four months while visiting my mother country in Sweden I decided to join a gym to do some strength training too. I have been doing this three times a week and it feels good. I won’t call it some heavy lifting, just building some muscle strength using the equipment as I am a female 71 years old. Your posts made me think that perhaps I should have asked my neurosurgeon before I started. Well, too late now so I just sent a message to my care team about it today. Hopefully I will get some positive feedback.

@Curious1 @Moltroub I just got an answer from my neuro care team. The Doctor said that he trust that all is well and strength training is perfectly fine for me.

I’m happy for this answer so I will continue with my training.
