Life with an aneurysm survivor

Mike,

Have you considered being a tutor for HS or GED students? I understand one can earn $20 to $40 an hour for this service. You might also consider Prof'ing for on line courses. Not sure if you need a Master's Degree for that though.

Yes, I've considered tutoring. I will continue to explore it. So far I have drawn a blank though. I checked with the biggest tutoring company in Houston. They could not tell me how much I would be paid or when if ever I might start work but they'd take a 50% cut. The difficulty in doing it myself is finding the students. The going rate is a lot less than $20/hour though and there is no way to get 40 hours a week. Then there is no insurance either. Like I said, I'm still looking into it and may at some point have a tutoree or two but I don't see it as a solution. But thanks for the suggestion.

You might want to try a listing on craigslist. Also, try a classified ad for 30 days. Maybe you can list your specialties and tie it to SAT tests. As I'm getting older now I'm listening to much more advice and the suggestion is one I heard on the Dave Ramsey radio show. By the way, I'd recommend all forum readers listening to this guy on AM radio or seek him out on the web or read his books, especially if you and your family want to find your way out of debt - quickly and ethically.

Hello~ I too am new to this website hoping it helps find some positive information~ My husband also has had a ruptured Anuerysm/AVM on Oct, 4th 2010. He has severe short term memory loss and becomes angry/frustrated very easily. Not able to drive( which has always been a passion for him) We also have a 4 year old daughter. And due to his anger/ mood swings the doctors have said that it is not safe to have him at home. Even though he would NEVER intentionally hurt anybody it is the what if that now finds him in a memory care (locked) unit. This is very hard for me to do And I pray everyday that that he wakes up one

AM and everything is back to the way it was. We are very fortunate enough to live so close to the Mayo Clinic In Rochester, MN. The doctors and staff there are the best.

I have always tried to stay positive and see the positive in everything, admittingly it gets hard and it is ok to be weak sometimes but don't let it get the best of you. God has a plan for everybody~ and never gives us more than we can handle.

I really hate to be so negative but I have tried Craig'sList, Monster, JobSearch and all I've gotten is spam and fake job offers. I took one of those jobs in January. Spent money. Made no money. Since I quit last week my unemployment insurance check is on hold. Not having a good day folks.

Thanks a lot Ronald - it is amazing how my husband does not want to read / write but wants to hear every single word of what goes on on this website every time I log on. It makes me hope that some day he will just pick up his i-Pad and start interacting with all of you. I wish you and your family all the very best and keep the positivity going - it sure is encouraging to a lot of people out here.

Hi Andrea - Hang in there ! It is too soon and I know it is tough as hell. But like you have very correctly said - God never gives us more than we can handle. It is exactly one year today since Gautam's ruptured anuerysm and surgery and I know a lot of his recovery has come about thanks to the positive attitude and support of family around him. Continue to be there for your husband and do take some time out for your own self and for daughter. Lots of cyber prayers your way.
