Has anyone's unruptured aneurysm changed in size?

Hi Amy,

My mom went through the same process. She had been having CT scans with contrast annually and the measurements were the same from each scan. However, we recently discovered she was allergic to the iodine contrast so for her most recent scan the doctor ordered an MRA without contrast. This is where the results differed. I am hoping its just the difference in technique.

Good luck on your scan! Sending prayers :)

it’s my understanding that it’s at 5 mm where the doctors start to be concerned truly. However, if you have any questions you should feel free to talk to your doctor until he answers every question that you have. I’m sure if that’s what he would want.and that’s truly the only way to make a wise decision. Take care.

I had 2 one was 10mm x 8 was stented 3yrs ago but found another surgeon called Dr. Fiorella at stony brook university who I called my savior. After looking at my MRA which showed no changes after stenting said to me that the Stent was too small so there was still blood flow feeding my aneurysm. He put the PED in my aneurysm in march this year. Just had an Angiogram and he stated to me that he could not see the aneurysm. Praise God for that I still have a 2mm which has not changed since 2011

so far it has not but I am praying it won’t.The doctors are so sure it would stay the same size but I believe it would grow I worry all the time. just keep a sharp eye on it.

I had an aneurysm surgery clipping and another aneurysm they are watching and I too have a brain tumor they are watching. Are you as stressed out as I am?

Damn it was December 2012 guess I have to think about checking again . Would rather not!! I hate waiting for the results!!

No first on left alpholmic artery was 4 cm clipped second on right 10 yrs later was 2 cm no change so far but have learned they are genetic hun

Did you have it clipped?

Good for you!

What autoimmune do you have, if you don’t mind my asking

Hi-and I have had different views, diff machines--and similar difference but I was told the different machines can vary in small amount. The view is not exact,so allow for small differences anyway.IF it was a bigger difference I would be concerned.

Mine may have changed more than your mums but having different machines at different hospitals--and when back at 'same' hospital for same dye method--it was slightly wider and longer. But,a small difference.Too blurred to be exact in finer detail, but I need to keep a watch on it.I have not had surgery.Mine is approx 6 x 7 mm.But a difficult area to operate and so many risks.I would take that risk if it gets much bigger.

Good luck.

I am sure it is the MRA compared to CT scan as can show slight variations.Different techniques.

That has been my experience initally.

I was just told one of my brain aneurysm behind the left eye went from a 4mm to an 8.4 they want to do surgery but my Doctor wants me to see my lung Doc , so that's where I am now waiting to see if he say's it's a go and believe me I am scared to death
