Has anyone set off the metal detector at the airport?

Interesting ! Thank you Ed for posting the visual description regarding the electromagnetic's--a good wake up call for most everyone on this site. Peace! Janet

Jo, I did not receive card like this from my surgeon or from the hospital. I would be interested in seeing a copy of yours. Perhaps you could upload a cell phone photo of it to this thread.

Terri...

First...my personal opinion...is that you are blessed to have it...during travel...other illness, injury or accident can/may occur and the bracelet could help in care for other causes...even an MVA at home...

My suggestion is to take it by brand name ... for the alloy by its name...its ingredients by name....

Search it on the 'net...including the mfg's website... then the FDA approval site on the brand name...

The application to FDA for the product should include this type of data... in the approval process... ..

and, comparing to family members here for the brand names...and, the alloys ...

In any event... "can't hurt...might help"...

Hi Sue,

Her sensitivity to lightning increased remarkably this summer. We had to report two incidents to her Neurologist because of the symptoms post strike. For others reading this, she wasn't struck directly but one particular bolt struck approximately 3 miles away. I confirmed the strike time and location using a specialty web site called "strike star US" which records lightning strikes and sells the data to commercial companies. I happened to be in the room when it occurred. It seemed unusually close until I checked strike star.

She never had this extreme sensitivity prior to being zapped by a retail store antitheft system as she was "walking into a Kmart store." She getting therapy services using EEG based Neurofeedback in hopes of reducing the sensitivity but we are not quite there yet. Her symptoms from the lightning strike are consistent with low voltage electrical burns including tingling and numbness in the suture areas. If you need to look up info regarding lightning strikes see http//emedicine.medscape.com/article/1277496-overview

Outside of the recurrent migraines she's in perfect health. Let me know if you need help.

Ed

Hi Sue,

If I recall correctly you have a few stainless steel sutures as well. My wife feels the pain at the sutures which starts with pain as you state then it becomes tingly and numb along that whole side. Once the strike occurs (and it could be from miles away) the migraine sequence starts as well. She gets the same sensation from cell phone towers as well. It's so depressing to see them sprouting almost everywhere.

I discovered some Senate testimony from cell phone company executives whereby they were so thrilled that the new 4G LTE technology can blast right through trees and walls into living rooms so easily and efficiently. Beware it's only going to get worse.

Terri, I have a card that says the same thing as yours. It's a blue card, with AESCULAR on the bottom left. The back states the Implant number of the clips, the date installed and the doctor who performed the procedure.

Monique,

Back in the 90's, new technology especially the proliferation of mobile and electronic devices including WIFI was not anticipated so the FDA and the FCC didn't think there would be a problem for anyone. Guess again, I suppose they thought that most of the post clipping patients wouldn't survive that long - guess again! 90% of the functionality of our home can no longer be accessed by my wife and that's because of a big cell tower spewing numerous watts of power almost 2,500 ft away. I just don't even know where I can move my wife to so I can keep her as pain free as possible. A letter I sent to the FCC regarding this was responded to as sorry! So far, the FDA has not responded at all and my letter was sent to the department responsible. Good Lord, we're all in trouble!!

Got a little off track there (frustrated by all of this) anyway the older generations of clips never had cards issued because there was no anticipated need until 2001. Shows how quickly things change. Also, about two weeks ago my wife had to open our front door to retrieve a UPS package and she was blasted again by this lone cell tower - what is someone like her to do as she can't find a neurosurgeon to take out the source of the pain (metal sutures) or find an Attorney to fight for her civil rights of life liberty and pursuit of happiness (also means to be pain free from being caused by others). Sorry for the rant but many times I feel like I'm yelling fire in a vacuum but can't get the people who can help to listen.

Ed

Ed, could you explain where exactly they used metal sutures inside your wife’s head? Was it to secure the bone flap–where those of us more recently clipped would have screws and dog bones holding the flap in place?

Have you tried consulting with any out-of-state neurosurgeons to see if they would take out those metal sutures?

Hi Purpleplume,

The sutures look exactly like large safety pins that pierce through the skull in four locations on the right side then each twist tied like a bread wrapper then sealed with a epoxy like glue (this last step prevents removal without life threatening infection risks.)

We been to the larger research hospitals in PA and the best we get is sorry your going through this. Cleveland Clinic wasn't even aware this could occur in humans. Thanks for your interest.

Mass General has some excellent brain surgeons, Ed. Would you ever consider booking a consult with one of them? I think quite a few people on this forum were treated there.
