Hi, Allison -

I also have a (few) unruptured aneurysms, and I’ve been TTCing for over 3 years. Have you spoken with a high risk OBGYN and your neurosurgeon? My GP gave me the same advice but my high risk OBGYN had a different opinion.

Hi Allison,

I had an aneurysm repaired before being pregnant however my pregnancy was extremely high risk even after the fact.

I had to have a c-section with my son and I was seen weekly by the ob. It was extremely nerve racking. Please see a high risk OBGYN who specializes in patients like us. Also, always trust your neurologist or neurosurgeon first.

I have found that my primary care has brushed a lot of my concerns away because he doesn't completely understand them.

Best of luck!

Hi thank you for your replies i haven’t spoke to my neurosurgeon yet as i am waiting for my appointment ! Yes i do feel my Dr brushes of most of my concerns with my aneursm too! Yeah it is very nerve racking iquite scated ! X

I am quite scared that should say

Just remember to breathe. Life has a really funny way of working out. Check with your neurosurgeon before you stress out too much. Do you have a schedule operation day or are you just watching it?

I was given the go ahead and had no issues with aneurysm during pregnancy- good luck mama!

Dear Allison,

I'm a new member here, so I apologize if this reply is too late! But I wanted to tell you that I had a small (3mm) aneurysm discovered 2 weeks before we found out that we were pregnant with our first child. I exercised and cut out caffeine during the pregnancy, and monitored my blood pressure like a crazy person at home. That said, all was perfectly well. Perfect delivery (c-section, but for another reason entirely), and the 1-year check of the aneurysm indicated no growth. I had a wonderful pregnancy.

I hope that you will have the same!

Good luck!

Sarah

My doctor gave me the choice to go ahead with pregnancy or to have the surgery. I was very nervous about it so I had the surgery. But I have a family history.

Hi Allison,

You probably got something from me in your e-mail -- limited to 200 words. Here's the rest of the story: My son was (is) fine and so was (am) I. The neurosurgeon and OB surmised that the pregnancy triggered the rupture. For the rest of the readers, I had a ruptured aneurysm clipped during the fifth month of pregnancy. Son was born five weeks early, but at a full-term birth weight and all else was as it should be. I recovered remarkably well from such major surgery and childbirth. Talk to your MDs about the possibility of a rupture during the pregnancy, also during labor. It may be less risky to fix the problem sooner rather than later. Best of luck to you.
