How you doing Ron? The title is a bit worrisome.
ok ty, why do you think that? Here in Pa. it means tired of winter, of being held captive indoors by snow and you cant wait till spring, tc
Iām going to make you jealous - weāve been having a long cold snap getting down into the low, very low double digits. No fun to come outside when itās 12 dF with the dogs. But this am is nice, itās a balmy 35 as I type and today itās supposed to get in the low 60ās! Jealous arenāt you?
Are you planning your garden?
??? i dont understand
idk, its Nieces raised beds mostly
I dont know, its Nieces raised beds, had Blossum rot, going to add ashes i think. My lil garden wasnt very good either. I tried responding on site and it was difficult. Dick D has an issue re my posts title ācabin feverā I dont understand why he is offended? tc
Sorry, no, I wasnāt offended. In the UK ācabin feverā is akin to stir crazy, needing to get out, as you say after perhaps a month or two hunkering down for winter.
I just wanted to make sure youāre ok!
Richard
Have her check the soil pH might need some garden lime for the blossom rot. Canāt recall if itās a pH of 6 or 6.5 they need. But too high they canāt grow I added too many ashes one year and messed up my pH, felt like going back to square one. We always have to add lime, our clay soil isnāt that great. We grow rocks really well at the new place though. . And just an inch of water a week so deep watering once a week maybe some mulch on top in Summer. We have to mulch, but need to be careful with it when itās really humid. Iām trying to get a couple hugelkulture gardens going but I think Josh dug the holes too deep. Iāve got the trees for them but wasnāt home when he and Lily stacked the limbs and old trunks in so Iām afraid with my luck, Iāll fall in and have to report another fall.
. Also lost my source for fresh manure. Maybe itāll be straw bale gardening this year. Trying to find a way I donāt have to bend so much. Got the tractor back from the shop yesterday, hopefully my shoulder has healed enough to operate it. Iāll get on that horse next week if the weather holds.
Mr Richard as I like to call him responded to you Ron. Heās not offended and itās nice to know that cabin fever means the same no matter which side of the pond weāre on! He was just concerned, heās a good man like that.
yes, ty phewww that was a close one!
i learned āhappy camperā meant something very differemt in Aus.! It means Gay!
thanks, all clear, glad we didnt run amuk! tc
We are a bunch of cousins, divided by our different histories with the same words!
January is a tough month and I still canāt believe it is still going on! However, tomorrow gets to be February, which is fantastic because it is the shortest month and I noticed that Iāve got spring bulbs already sending tall shoots above the ground and indeed went looking for the snowdrops and they are already up and showing white flowers! The seasons are still turning! While there is still a week or two of deepening winter still to have, the season is starting to turn: signs of spring are there.
Stay well!
Richard
My pansies are growing a wee bit with this warmer temps these last few days, I better check on the crocuses, seems the squirrels like them more here than at the other homes. I love Spring, Iāll miss Winter (less allergies).
