Concerns with the post -coiling and stent procedure

On Dec. 5th, I had the coiling and 2 stent treatment for a large aneurysm which was pressing on my right optic nerve. Some 21 coils and 2 stents later, I was out of the hospital the next day. I am somewhat concerned about the sensations which I have in the area of the aneurysm when I sneeze, cough, or sometimes bend over. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is it normal? My first followup appointment is on Jan. 25.

Ida, if you’ve had a procedure and you have concerns, as you say you have I would strongly be recommending you contact your surgeon’s office. Each neurosurgical procedure is different in some way, the exact location of the annie, the exact size of the annie, the method used for your specific procedure… …all of these can have an impact of any side effects or symptoms you are experiencing. Post neurosurgery I had all sorts of ‘head pain’ and a sneeze was just devastating, like my eyes were going to explode from my skull. Agony.
But if you have concerns, you report it. Make an appointment, get it checked out. What’s the worst they can say if there’s nothing wrong ‘It’s all OK’ ? And if it’s not OK then they will act.

Thank you for your swift reply. I have discussed my concerns with my family doctor and I will be discussing them with the doctor who performed the procedure on Jan. 25.

Today I met with the doctor who did the coiling and stent procedure. He said that the twinges/sensations I have been feeling are part of the healing process. I will be seeing him again in 6 weeks when I will also be having an MRI. Feeling quite relieved after seeing him. All is well.

Good to hear.
But again “…if you have concerns, you report it. Make an appointment, get it checked out…”

Thank you for your advice. I feel much better about the coiling and stent procedure since my appointment with my doctor. In the future, I will get any concerns checked out right away,
