Clipping, wait or just get it done and anxiety from post op

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I am trying to decide whether to wait or do the clipping now. The Dr. believes he will have to go through my skull for my clipping, which will be a little different than yours. I am terrified either way.

Absolutely!! The waiting was the worst!! I am 5 weeks post op and feeling anxiety, like I’m goint to break if I do something wrong.

@LLL and @AliciaB oh my, this is a topic from 2016 I’m going to close this old one and try to help you ladies by starting a new one…

I didn’t do well with the new title, please feel free to change it. I will ask @ModSupport if I need to separate you two to different topics as well or y’all can start your own topics…

@LLL decisions about whether or not to have a clipping can be very difficult. We have a lot of members who have had a craniotomy. @karly just had hers yesterday! You can read about it here Ruptured Aneurysm/SAH Before 30— Would Love Advice/Stories - #3 by oct20

@AliciaB welcome again! Anxiety after any procedure can be a bit taxing. We are given so many rules that goes against our habits that it makes making choices very difficult. How can we help you?

Thank you for your reply. I guess just knowing how much I can do or lift and when will I be able to. My neurosurgeon schedueld me for a check up 3 years from now and I wish it was 1 year instead cause while I was waiting for the clipping on 1 aneurysim 2 more popped up. so a total of 3 clippings. Whats to say some are not popping up right now? Non the less my ultimate faith is in God, he got me through this incredible circumstance and he’ll bring me through all.

First thing to do would be to ask your doctor about lifting requirements, mine is 40 pounds but I’m not so good at following directions. It’s why mine decided on putting in the stent back in Dec 2020 I think. Her limit caused me to ask if all neurosurgeons just liked the number 40 as this was the same limit my other neurosurgeon gave me following lower lumbar fusion. I would venture to guess yours doesn’t want you to be a couch potato and walk abouts would be great, don’t try to do a marathon. But ask your doctor.

You may be able to reach out through your patient portal and ask all your questions. Once I learned about using the portal any questions are answered very quickly, usually by her wonderful NP. Whether or not I direct a question to the NP or my Neurosurgeon, the NP reads them all and staffs them all with my Doctor.

You could also ask if he would do a yearly follow up MRI/A for the other aneurysms if nothing else but to have peace of mind. I would be requesting that for sure!
