Hi… I’m new to this group. I recently found out I have an aneurysm. I go to my Dr in two days and I’m going to ask her to refer me to John Hopkins hospital. I don’t know much about the type of aneurysm I have or where it’s even at? I found out incidentally when I went to the ER for a sharp pain in the back of my head and I had an ocular migraine as well shortly after the sharp pain in my head. On the physician notes from the ER it says it’s a Aneurysm of intracranial portion of internal carotid artery. It’s 2.8 x 2.8 mm It’s just all so overwhelming and scary.

I don’t know what intracranial portion means, but I highly recommend getting a consult with Johns Hopkins. I’ve had the privilege of meeting/consulting with three of the doctors at the JH aneurysm center, and was so impressed with each of them. I was diagnosed with 5 aneurysms in August. Dr. Tamargo did my surgery the first week in October and it could not have gone any better. I live in NH but I knew immediately I was in good hands and felt confident in his and the rest of the team’s recommendations. Sending you good wishes.

Thank you! I hope it doesn’t take too long to get an appt there. From what I’ve read they are the top hospital in the US for aneurysms. Glad your surgery went well.

My Dr. Referred me to John Hopkins and I too have an appt with Dr Tamargo! I’m getting in pretty quickly too. I think I’ll feel much better after my consult.
