A strange sound going through my mind

This might sound a little fruity but I have to ask or mention, which ever the case may be.

When I go,to bed at night and lie down and start reading my book. It is. then that This strange noise Starts. its not a ringing or buzzing, it actually indescribable. Its just there and has been since my Bleed and even more since my clipping. This must sound really bazaar but the only way I can say this and hopefully might be understood, is hear in this blog. if that makes sense? but i am also extremely sensitive to noise later in the day, for example from 3 pm and onwards, especially after tea time when I am trying to switch off and people are talking or music is playing etc…!!!..anyway just putting it out there, you can let me know if im going mad or not. It cant get any worse than it is already…:-(…

You aren't Mad...many of us have different effects after the surgery of our anuerysm's...some remain through time and some improve...I wasn't clipped, but coiled...and for about 1 year after surgery loud noises almost made me go insane and/or high pitch voice...even on talking on the telephone would hurt...I would have this vibrating sound ... and 2 years later, it no longer happens for the most part...now I do have some buzzing in my ear esp when I have headaches...the buzzing was worse after coiling...but remains to date, Doctor told me it is the location of my annie...not sure they really know, but sounds good...write all these things down so when you have a checkup with your Doctor you can mention some of these things that are happening...I think you will find more people that have been clipped have the same troubles...rest and heal...~ Colleen

I also get a strange constant noise inside my head. I notice it is awful after a long car ride. I always assumed everyone gets it. Kind of like a constant hum, buzz sound. It is so much more noticeable when I am in a quiet room. I can't be sure but wonder if it has something to do with the inner ear. When we add up all these 'little' annoyances in our lives we wonder what the heck is happening to our bodies.

I so understand Jeanne...I have developed balance issues and because of the buzzing and/or noise in my ear, Doctors sent me to ENT and then I had all the inner~ear tests...everything went well...so Neurosurgeon told me the issues are due to my Brain aneurysm...Hang in there Jeanne...you are so early in the healing journey...but if you have any doubts about your symptoms, contact your Doctor...~ sending some positive vibes your way ~ Colleen

Yes Colleen, I also went to the ENT years ago and also have severe balance issues. Constantly falling due to loss of balance since the 90's. Also have always had this head noise thing before I ever knew I had an aneurysm. It can be annoying. My theory is to leave all alone unless its causing severe discomfort or pain. I am tired of being poked, tested, etc. I wonder if some of us have a case of tintinitus, humming, ringing, or whatever else goes on in the inner ear/head.

hi ronnie think i might be a little fruity too or so my doc thinks lol i have all the above u mentioned with weird feeling in my head i was clipped last jan after sah and year past my head still aches nerve damage neuro saying....im especially sensitive to noise evenings too and no your not goin mad even tho we sometimes feel we are ......hang in there on your journey (as am i) we are not alone just brain injured and overwhelmed with the new us i suppose.......take care Janis...:)

My bestie and I have just read all your posts and thank goodness I'm not imagining or going crazy...lol...she knows that now too, Thats the last thing I/we all need. Thank you all so much for your replies it really helps one when they are in doubt. It is so hard to explain these type of symptons to family or professionals without sounding like a nut case. pray that our journenies get better each and every day...:-)

Ronnie...

From the minimally invasive treatment...I have "sensorineural" hearing loss...at the mild-medium baseline...

While hospitalized, it was monitored....not in records ther than the billing... however, hearing loss is in the transfer record to Home Health Care...not to patient/family...

Left was worse w/tinnitus; apx three years ago, I was driving; heard a horrible grinding; pulled into parking to call my dealer or towtruck...turned the engine off...grinding continued! Only concern was having a stroke while driving home (old-fashioned public-safety); only a mile or so; home and called friend/PofA...to check on me in the morning...

It could have generated some humor when the tow truck billed: "the car ran fine; not the driver" ....

I did go in for hearing test update; no change...mild/medium baseline; still so itnermittent; have some times of total deafness in right ear... shrieking type tinnitus...then pops back to mild-medium hearing range...

Please set up a log (calendar / daytimer?) note time / description...attempt to note any distractions / disruptions, headache level...balance...anything else... for when you talk w/your doc...not likely will be cured...but complete testing will help you understand...

Also google: cranial nerves ...CN VIII (vestibulocochlear) is the hearing...add: disease, injury, symptoms... to compare to yours...to perhaps ask mor questions to your doc...

Warm Wishes and prayers for your comfort...

Pat

You are not alone! My bleed was 9 yrs ago & I experienced same thing-it did lessen w/time-'am still very sensitive to noise-from what I've read, that is normal-helps to share these things:) marcia

Thank you Pat, I will start to record things from now on. From reading all these replies I know now its not me going fruity after all. Thank you very much…Kindest regards…

Thanks Marcia, 9 years ago for you is also wonderful to hear as I had given up hope of getting through the next 5 …!!..but i will move ahead with more positive thoughts in mind…Kindest regards…Ronnie

Hi Ronnie, You're not going mad. I have a "noise" in my head too and have it since I got my first clip. My sound reminds me of the sound I hear when I stretch first thing in the morning...kind of a buzzy wavy sound. The more noise around me the less I hear it but in a quiet place I certainly notice it and have taken to leaving the t.v. on or music so I can fall asleep. I'm use to it now (but would love it to go away). I agree Colleen about writing everything down. I did and it served 2 purposes for me: 1. When I went back and read what I wrote I could see how much better I'd gotten and 2. I had an accurate account of what was going on when I went to the doctors.

Hang it there, it does get better! Cathy

Hi there...mine is also nine years...some things recover/decline, others advance, others return...the right ear grinding/shrieking was defintiely new...out of nowhere...

Were you coiled or clipped? I was...wired...

Migraine aura of my right eye was hideous...has reduced...but the pulsation behind the pupil returned intermittently after the right ear issues... another chapter...

Pat

I had unruptered triple clippings almost 2 years ago , alot of noise is awful for me or loud noise , my kids rap music LOL ..anything high pitched just seems to shut me down , I have taken to putting in ear plugs(just keep them in my purse or pocket , everywhere I go they go ) ..it helps ALOT ..I have even had times that I waer them aat home !! someone eating potato chips can put me on edge .I also purcased a little humidifier and always turn it on in my bedroom at night ..or when I need quiet it helps ALOT !!!covers all noise inside and out .

Ronnie...and Cathy

I so promote researching the 'net...cranial nerves anatomy... the cranial nerve (CN VIII) vestibulocochlear...

My hearing loss was termed:senorineural hearing loss in both ears...at mild/medium baseline..of the numbered range... Search that for comparing symptoms... I do go back every two years for basic check..

Apx 2 -3 years ago, some weird changes began; but that issue is intermittent...so cannot get "it" tested...i.e. there is no "ER" for hearing noise change... Mine does not change at routine times...As yours does, you may be able to schedule testing at the general timing you sense the change... ???

Talk to your doc and see about getting to ENT specialist; if nothing else, than just to better understand...

Loud noises can startle me; worse, by not sensing the direction..left or right....soft voices/speech, I have great difficulty understanding...

Please search, ask your doc(s) who may explain it...or refer you to ENT...

Pat

Noisy restaurants, etc...more than a couple of people talking...at a social function...

Pat .

Thanks Pat I have made a note of this for my next check up… Cathy I too cannot stand to be around loud music now…especially at social functions. Screaming kids or just playing normally is also difficult for me too which is heartbreaking as it limits my visits to the grandchildren…:-(…Traveling in a car is horribly tiring and my hearing is not flash either for some reason…but i am no keeping a journal on all these symptoms to take with me to my next visit.

Hi Ronnie, Cathy and Pat,

Thank you so much for posting this information! I also have a hard time being around my grandchildren when they're loud and it heartbreaking to have to pull back when they're having a blast! My son plays music that is not loud but there is a tone to some of it that is intolerable for me. So many life changes after getting clipped. I haven another annie and have to decide on clipping or watching. Watching might be agony because of the fear but clipping was so life alerting I can't imagine what will change if I do it again. Anyone have a second clipping? coiling?

Hi Ronnie! noooo not cuckoo!! mine are ringing now-when its real quiet. Apparently our ear to brain connections are damaged and they are real sensitive. This is the same ringng as after a loud jam session or concert. Mine seems to be worse recently (3.5 yrs post sah) Mine is high pitched but not loud thankfully-if t bothers you or gets worse I would tell the dr but not sure if tininitus is treatable, anyway I also have sinus pressure and i'm wondering if this is the cause?? I will google and let you know if I find anything worthy of mention~~ take care!ps-I was coiled

Cathleen...I will start with Happy Easter...because we need, and cherish our blessings...

We all have a lot more to share...

Try the ear plugs...to enjoy the children w/the bunny...you may want to try several kinds/sizes.

Try them at home alone...have someone call, buzz/ring the door bell, honk the horn...beep your smoke detector...alarm system...to be comfortable w/your other safety level...

Happy Easter...

Pat
