Your very lucky my head pain is still after 11 wks. I get very tired also . Just had a follow up CT scan waiting to hear now from my Dr. Praying for good news
Hello Angela! Itās been a while - just checking in about your follow up scan. Are you still having head pain? I hope the scan results were good and that youāre getting relief from the pain.
Sincerely,
Kaile
Hello there " itās been 6 months now my new CT scan was done 3 weeks ago . My anurysym is now at 2.5 mm . It was at 16mm at surgery . I am still having head pain with the surgical side . And the skull . I just wish it would all stop so I can feel somewhat normal. Pain daily . Thank you for checking on me . How are you ?
Iām sorry to hear the pain is continuing.
I also have head/face pain post procedure - it was A LOT the first six months, settled down more after a year and now at two years out is much better - still regular but very manageable.
I hope that your medical team is supportive. I was referred to three months of physical therapy which helped a lot. I still do my PT exercises 18 months after āgraduatingā.
I started joining the monthly meetings of my hospitalās stroke/aneurysm/avm support group six months after discharge which really helped me learn a lot and cope.
I see that UM has an aneurysm support group if that is something you are interested in.

U Michigan also has a Pain Management unit - Pain Management | University of Michigan Health
I donāt know if that is a resource your neuro team could recommend.
I hope you find relief, I hope your care team is supportive, and hope you are able to find time to rest and heal.

This is so helpful thank you so much for this info. Iām happy to hear you are well and feeling good. Thereās days some are good and some are bad . I pray it gets better . You give me strength and hope
.
Kaile did you take any nerve pain meds ? They prescribed neurotin for me for my nerve pain but Iām scared to take it. I read up on it and it says once you start you canāt just stop it. So I take Tylenol.
Hi Angela,
No, I did not. I had a week of Oxycodone after the procedure and then after that I leaned heavily on Tylenol, ice and topical menthol.
I have friends who have taken gabapentin (is that what neuropentin is?) for post surgical pain and they both did get to a point where they did not need to take it anymore. Itās good to talk to your provider about your concerns.
Wishing you good answers and relief!
Kaile
Yes I rely on the Tylenol as well. Thank you ![]()
Hi @Abkline2064,
My apologies for jumping in, but if it helps, I was on gabapentin for ~6 months, and I was able to stop taking it.
I completely appreciate that your doctorās opinion and your situation are may be different than mine, but if it helps to know it is possible, put me on your list.
Wishing you well!

Thank you for sharing . Itās been 6 months since surgery still having alot of nerve pain on left side and my skull. I think I will try the neurotin to see if this calms down . Did you just stop taking it or do you have to go from lower dose ?
As I recall, I didnāt drop in dosages (i.e., no new prescription), but I did taper off gradually. You made me pull out my old records, so I can give you correct information. ![]()
I was taking a 300 MG once in the morning, and twice at night at first. I think at some point I dropped the morning dosage, so I was only taking it at night. When I got permission to drop it entirely, I spent 1-2 weeks taking one pill every day, and the 1-2 weeks every other day (treat this as approximate dosages/timing).
Whatever you decide to do, I hope it eases your nerve pain!
Thank you so much
Absolutely! We are all here to support one another. Let us know what other questions/concerns you might have.
@Abkline2064 I was on gabapentin for well over a decade for spinal issues, it was finally changed when I aggravated the pinched nerve in my neck and tore some tendons and ligaments in my shoulder. Didnāt wean off it, just switched to Lyrica. Didnāt miss the gabapentin at all, I never thought it did much for me. Canāt remember if the neurosurgeon who did my lumbar repair in 2012 put me on it or if one of my PCPs prior put me on it. All anyone did was up it as I recall. We used the lower dose for one of our dogs and now she has her own prescription.
Ha @Moltroub, you make me laugh. My family was just teasing me, as the new dog in the family had to have some to go to a grooming appointment - so we have something else in common! I had no idea that it was used for our pets as well until last week!
Nina had to take trazodone when we took her to Charlotte for the Veterinary Cardiologist, she can barely handle the short trip to see ADK! Theyāve both been on ultram (tramadol) for one thing or another. Did you know a Vet can prescribe all they want but human physicians are limited to the number?
I believe they try human medications on animals prior to getting them to us. Youād have to research that, but Iām 99% positive.
Nina barks for her benedryl at the first sound of thunder, literally. I think a couple drops of Rescue Remedy on a treat (cousin recommended it she used it for her cat to get back and forth to the Vet) works well, we used to put a few drops in the water bowl. But Ohana definitely didnāt need it, she loves storms as long as thereās no strong winds. Really bad storms, Nina gets her benedryl, Rescue Remedy and thunder coat. We still are concerned sheāll have a heart attack.
