Thank you Marissa ’
They put me on neurotin for nerve pain. I’ve yet to take it as it makes you dizzy and sleepy . Living alone that’s scary for me . I see my Dr today so I plan on talking to him about my time out.
Thank you " I was concerned about my clipping as I seen it on screen at drs. This has sure been trying getting thru daily with nerve head pain . I’m truly realizing rest just rest .
Has your anurysym disappeared after time ?
Mine hasn’t… my first was clipped and this one will receive a stent… in missing a few blood vessels in my brain and found out I will always have the ability to regrow aneurysms. This stent should help with blood flow… They are hoping the new one will dissipate over time and new ones won’t regrow for a long time. I had 20 years between the 2 aneurysms
I’m so sorry to hear this . I wish you all the best and good health .
Very good advice. I have a clip and hydration is one of the issues I deal with most. For some unknown reason after my surgery I no longer have the ability to perspire, so I can dehydrate quickly.

All things change for sure I know I’ve changed alot too. I don’t feel myself any longer trying to get thru
Hi @Abkline2064 -
I am so sorry to hear that you are still undergoing all this pain. Although I am an endovascular patient, I completely understand avoiding taking oxycodone for as much as you can. I did finally relent when I was in some pain in the hospital after one procedure, figuring I was being monitored closely then, so it was the best time to take it. I hope with your medical team you are figuring out a way to manage it.
I just wanted to follow up with one of @Beegal66’s excellent points about p/t and/or rehabilitation service. I had many, many wonderful rehab/therapists along my recovery, and they were all so helpful. However, my last speech language therapist (SLP) was incredibly helpful to me because by pure dumb luck, she was a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.
She understood what I was going through so well, I actually thought she must have had a brain injury herself. She is the only non-brain injury individual I have ever met who “gets” us! As an example, she helped me to figure out what my signs are that I am getting too fatigued, and just as importantly, what kind of activities help me to recharge my proverbial battery, so that I was able to go back to work.
There are plenty of folks in Michigan, so perhaps, there is someone that your neurologist/neurosurgeon and/or insurance company can recommend?
Thinking of you, and sending you healing thoughts and prayers!
Please keep us posted as to how you are doing.

Thank you " I had a CT scan back in Feb they state anurysym looked great with the clipping. I am still having head pain from the opening . My worries are about the anurysym itself . They say it’s all good it shall be fine from here on out . Can I trust this ? It’s very scary one day to the next knowing I have this . Will it dissappear thru time ? I pray daily it will , the head pain is part of healing I understand. I have good days and bad days . I see a neuro at u of m in Michigan. I often ask myself do I need to see another . ? I have faith and trust in the Dr. I just want to be sure this is never coming back.
It took my Surgeon 4 tries with 7 times in my brain before we were told she thought she got it this time. We’ve learned when the surgeon is confident it’s because it shows on the imaging. I’ve learned here that folks who are clipped have usually heard their aneurysm has been occluded right away. Many of us who’ve had endovascular surgery get a follow up image about 6 months out from the procedure. Some folks who’ve had a craniotomy also get one, although I don’t remember the time line and some don’t need one per their surgeon. Best thing to do I think would be to reach out to your surgeon and ask if there’s a plan for any follow up imaging.
Thank you
Hello Angela and Welcome,
My name is John, and I am 61 years old. I experienced a Thumb size Aneurism that had acquired a “Berry tit” which is an Anny on an Anny. This leaked several times which caused a stroke three times. The first two not diagnosed.
I was 22 and in the Navy. I was a bit wilder than I should have been and started doing Cocaine for a short time after being stationed in Caracas VZ.
I started having twitches in my arm and attributed to the substance abuse and I seeked help. They figured I was detoxing and discharged me.
I went home to NC and got a job with an Engineering firm. On my way home from a club after 1/2 a drink, because I was nauseous and left early to go home…something wasn’t right. On the way home I kept waking up behind the wheel and turned the radio up with the windows down. I woke up to late once and hit a pipe head on and was rushed to the hospital…This was my second stroke. They gave me a DWI and threw me in jail with a neck brace and stitches across my face. The blood test came back .003 and they dropped the charges.
At this time, I still had no idea what was happening between my ears.
After several months at the firm, I worked at my armed started twitching…just like when I was in the Navy. I turned to tell someone and could not talk. I fell to my knees…scared to death.
They took me to the hospital where they found the Thumb size Anny after several arteriograms and a cat.
They prepped me and gave me a clipping surgery. God makes miracles doesn’t he.
It’s been 40 years now and life is great…some good some bad…Just like everybody else.
I didn’t have you guys back then so had to accept a lot of things on my own.
I don’t feel handicapped…anymore nor ashamed. We become stronger people than most. We earned it. We learn to enjoy the moments of today…a beautiful gift.
I have through the years addressed my alcoholism which is another daily acceptance.
Life is Good.
I have two kids going into college and my own business designing homes.
Thank you all for being here and I am here for you.
Love
John
God bless John , So happy to hear all is well. I am 60 and going thru this . I’m 3 months out of surgery going bk to work Monday. I have alot of head pain still , good and bad days . Can’t wait for it to just heal and stop with the nerve pain. My life has changed . I live alone and it’s scary . My daughter has cameras to keep an eye on me. I feel blessed to have another chance here at life as well. God bless
I had a craniotomy to clip a ruptured aneurysm in August 2024. For the first 6-8 weeks of recovery, I would have a random tingling sensation along the healing incision and where the plates are (right above my left eyebrow). I stayed home for 12 full weeks and my doctor eased me back into work (4 hours/day the first week, 6 hours/day the second week, full time by the 3rd week). My biggest issue now 7 months later is when we get big swings in the weather (I’m in Wisconsin), my left side of my head from where the plate is to bottom of the scar (right by the ear) will get puffy and feel tight. Nothing that an ice pack can’t fix.
The biggest thing that helped me was getting good sleep, plenty of water and electrolytes, walking our dogs, and knowing when to stop and not over do it. I’m usually very driven and always on the go; I’m glad my care team gave me 12 weeks of recovery time. I didn’t start feeling like myself until at least 8 weeks after surgery but I don’t think I could have handled diving back into work that soon.
Thank you for your information there is hope at the end of this for me. It’s a struggle . I get tired alot and need to sleep still at 10 weeks. The head pain will come and go . Praying it just stops . At what point did your head pain stop ? Nerve pain ? Please share . Thank you
Can anyone share when and if your anurysym disappeared? I’m anxious to hear . I have a CT scan next week praying mine has vanished .
Hi @Abkline2064 -
My aneurysm ruptured in June 2023. I had coils, and then a pipeline placed in October 2024 (~2.5 mm).
On March 20, 2025, my aneurysm was officially declared as occluded (official follow-up appointment with all the details soon, but hearing “Great!” through the twilight anesthesia, and knowing I could stop the Plavix is sufficient for now!).
I did ask my nurse pre-procedure what happens to the aneurysm now. Does it eventually “fall off” (thinking like a scab on your arm)? She explained it just stays there, and thought my analogy of it’s like a dead leaf on a tree was appropriate. I still want to ask my doctor, just to be sure though to get further clarity.
Sending good thoughts your way that you get GREAT news!! Please keep us posted!

Thank you so much I’m praying
I was told the same, it never goes away but it does become occluded from the artery.
I would say the head and nerve pain ended for me about 6 weeks after surgery. Tiredness was probably 8 weeks. Even 7 months later, I still force myself to stick to my sleep schedule and get at least 8 hours/night. Routine sleep schedule has really helped me the most.
