24 August 2025 Welcomes, not this week

I was up early, too early. Some four legged critter decided to live up to her nickname “Miss Barksalot”. When we got to go, we got to go. Nina definitely had to go…Waited for daybreak to dispose of the wasps that have taken up residence without an invitation, took a benedryl because something has knocked me down this week, and saw a gaggle of Canadian Geese fly over us. What a fantastic, foggy morning.

Oh and miracles of miracles, I finally after decades of living in the South had some sausage balls that I actually liked. Sausage balls are always at get togethers down here. Unfortunately or extremely fortunate, Mom was known from coast to coast for her “thank you portion” rule. For the four of us kids, we had to take a heaping tablespoon, the size you use to serve dishes not a measuring spoon. I was a little upset when the grandkids started coming because she changed the rule to a teaspoon, again not the measuring type. But then the great grandkids started coming and it didn’t look like they would stop coming, portion became “just a bite”. We actually had a bit of an argument when BH and I had some of them all over for a nice week long visit. Even my nieces jumped in as they were using the teaspoon size with their young’uns. Calls were actually made from California to PA and Mom got bombarded with calls :joy:

We have to try new things all the time it seems. Not just with food, but life in general. We need to deal with fears and apprehensions as much as we need to deal with love and friendship. Everything in life is change and everything in life is work. Sometimes the work is easy and jump in with both feet, not thinking. Sometimes we hesitate to the point we create apprehension. So what do we need to do? Do we just jump in or do we need to study on all the pros and cons of a situation? Since I ruptured, I have to know everything before hand, it makes me better prepared. It takes me a long time to figure things out now and I have to be very patient with myself or I can get all worked up just like Mom changing the rule on thank you portions. Life is full of thank you portions, I’ve learned over the years. Sometimes we just have to try it.

Let’s get on to the welcomes, oh wait…there aren’t any. Sad day as I always look forward to them. Hopefully, next week. But for now, enjoy the week, hug the ones you love, remember to breathe, hydrate and eat protein. Think I’ll go have a thank you portion of life. Who knows, maybe something new will come my way.
