Hi Fellow Survivors and Supporting Family/Friends,
Some of you may have seen my name before as I have shared my story, commented on many of yours, and supported your chats. Though I am relatively quiet, I have recently broken the silence about my burst aneurysm when seeking support for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. My family is joining me in participating in the Run/Walk, and I would like to invite each of you to participate as well. I invite you to consider three ways you may join me in supporting this foundation that supports us and all we have been through:
Create a team of your own and join me in this race in Atlanta. We can compete with each other (with smiles, of course) to bring in the most racers and sponsorship money. I would love to see you, your family, and your friends at the race!
Come join our team! If you don’t want to create your own team, but would like to be part of a team in the race, please feel welcome to join us! Our team is the Old Farts! (Yep, a boast we have gotten to this age given the challenges we have faced!)
Or, if you are not able to join us in Atlanta in March, perhaps you are able to share a few bucks and support our team? Again, my team is the Old Farts, and the link for team support is here. Again, please specifically choose Old Farts.
So far our team has raised the most money, but I am not sure we have the most participants. I would love to have you join us in any way that you are able. We have all fought this fight in some way – and many of us are still fighting it. Let’s work together to get resources to the Foundation to strengthen us all!
Also, please feel welcome to share this message and these links with family and friends that would also like to support the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. I look forward to seeing you in Atlanta on March 15, 2026, at Brook Run Park, Dunwoody, Georgia (just N.E. outside Atlanta).
I couldn’t get the link to open up and talk about the Atlanta Run/Walk race specifically. I’ll keep looking…BH, the girls and I have participated in the Live Like Ellie Run/Walk a couple of times. We had great times, met great people, we walked. I could barely walk but I did do the short walking course. The dogs were so good, they were invited back anytime! They made us proud. The BAF acknowledged survivors which was very embarrassing for me but I did it. If they do it at Atlanta @KrysG go ahead and get up there and be acknowledged. Best of luck to you!
I am sorry if a link doesn’t work. I tested them all three times before posting! I am pretty private as a rule, but for you and my brother and sister who are doing this race with me, if they call one, I will proudly stand as a survivor — for all of us who are a part of this web group, and those survivors who have not yet found this great group!
I think the links are all fine but they go to different places, so we need to remember to read carefully what you’re pointing us to to click on the appropriate link.
THANK YOU!!! I so appreciate all the support I received from this peer group! We have reached our goal of $1000, though I am not necessarily finished. The invitation remains open: if you would like to join my little crew and walk the path with us in Atlanta, I would be honored to have you join.
A sincere appreciation to all of you – we are survivors and every day we face challenges, but have to remind ourselves of the strength we have to overcome those challenges every day! Some days are tough. Know that you are never alone. Be proud of yourself!
Sadly there wasn’t enough participation in the race as a whole so the race was cancelled, however, because my team had raised so much money and my whole family joined in this great event and the reason for it, we did the race ourselves!! I wanted to share another very special thank you for all who supported us emotionally, and financially. Each donation is very appreciated and goes to the research from which all of us can benefit! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Also, if you are interested, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation does organize other races around the country if any of you are interested in participating in one.
Until then, please enjoy these pictures of the race we created.
What a wonderful family you’ve got! If it’s not to far for you, try the Live Like Ellie walk/run marathon up in Cary NC. We went pre pandemic and it kept getting bigger with several hundred folks. They introduce the survivors which was embarrassing for me. But we were allowed to take the dogs. I have problems with crowds and the dogs help me stay focused. During the pandemic it was virtual and we walked around the yard
Love the pictures from your Olympic journey and seeing what great support you had from your teammates! Thanks for sharing and helping to get us one-day closer to a life without brain aneurysms!!
