18 January 2026 3 new members!

Did y’all wonder where I was? I slept in! Didn’t wake up until 10:00 am! But I did get to see the various song birds and the vultures that keep the crows from setting up residence. We now have robins! There were a couple of dozen at least! It’s simply amazing to see the different birds, Carolina wrens, robins and black birds getting along. Mankind can definitely take a lesson from nature, in a good way. There’s a positive in every day, it was a wonderful way to start my morning with a hot cup of tea and the business of the birds eating. Snow is allegedly in our forecast today. I’m not holding my breath. BH isn’t driving to the store to get milk, eggs or bread, the common practice in our neck of the woods even if one doesn’t need it. Once the first snowflake sticks, everyone heads for their local grocery store just in case. I’ve never lived anywhere else where folks do that, so I wonder if it’s a local thing.

We had been working yesterday in my shop trying to move things around. It’s more disorganized than my life, believe it or not. I had been going through boxes and trying to separate stuff. Not all of it is junk or so I tell BH. Although I might have a hoarding issue, with sharp things. Mr. Curley says I’ve got more axes than anyone he knows. But each tool has its specific purpose and I can’t help it if one comes in a box with a different tool I might want. It’s how estate sales and auctions work after all.

Anyhow, BH agreed to come down to the shop and help me. I’m trying to get the old table saw back together and a safe area for us to rip one board. Just one board to turn into a squarish baseboard for the dog bathroom. Of course BH says it’s good enough and starts to dig out the saw itself. I was going to give it to one of the guys who helped build the pole barn for the tractor shed. When he found out I wasn’t going to give him the metal stand, he didn’t want it I guess, he never came to get it.

I’m fairly anal when it comes to power tools, especially the old table saw that doesn’t have a lot of safety features as it was the least expensive Sears offered at the time. I do have a better one, but Mr. Curley needs to run power to it and then I need to put it together. I’ll need some strong young folks for that, some of the parts are really heavy.

I promised my Neurosurgeon that I’d get the safest power tools available so I did. In my younger days, I worked at a lumber mill making molding up in Northern California and have seen some horrible accidents so I’m really anal and want a good amount of space, proper clothing etc around power tools. I should be as anal with my hand tools, right? I’m not but I am anal about maintaining them, usually.

The board I’m ripping is a few inches over 9’ so to me that means 18’ plus the table saw and a few feet extra for safety sake. Fortunately it’s a big shop, I’ve never had a proper shop before. I had one of those metal buildings I put together back the year Hugo hit. The metal building stayed put because the meteorologist warned us that the hurricane was coming so I drove to the hardware store and got those cables that hook to screws in the ground. Neighbors were enjoying their pool and laughing at me. Their son’s metal building landed right behind ours and ours didn’t budge. Then we bought our first house and I worked in the cellar. If you were over 5’3” you had to bend over so you didn’t hit the joists, I didn’t hit them, I’m short. We eventually got a building put up but it had no electricity and then another closer to the house so I wouldn’t have to run so many power cords. Again with no electricity because we couldn’t find an electrician willing to bring the old house up to code.

Anyhow my being anal with power tool safety means I want a good amount of space on either side of the table saw the full length. That’s the hard part. I have to keep like things together and explained numerous times to BH not to just move stuff. BH tried to explain things were still kept together but I wasn’t buying it. I have cognitive issues after all. I truly do, fact not fiction. I don’t know how BH puts up with me, again fact not fiction. I notice BH is in a good bit of pain so I suggest BH let me work for 30 minutes and I’d be back up. BH decided to make dinner. I set the alarm on my phone and was shutting off the radio when BH calls down and says dinner is ready. Not realizing I was in a bit of pain, I was curt in my reply. Did I not realize BH couldn’t see what I was doing? NOPE! Cognitive issues can really suck.

So I get everything shut off and get up to the house. BH gives me a run down of what we’re having for supper. Chicken in a light sauce, noodles with a medley of herbs and spices and artisan bread with a variety of cheeses. Sounds great! I’m thinking some type of pasta dish with the sourdough bread. My arm doesn’t want to bend to get my coat off. The pain is so intense, I almost lose my dinner I haven’t eaten yet. Struggled to get it off and hang it up in its proper place. Sat down, BH brings my supper of chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich! I love BH’s sense of humor and it’s just what I needed! I also love chicken noodle soup with a grilled cheese sandwich and we don’t get it very often, maybe a couple times a year. Sad but true. BH isn’t a fan of grilled cheese sandwiches.

I take the medication the NP prescribed. BH gets the muscle rub on me without too much pain. Didn’t fall asleep until midnight, ten hours of sleep did me good. Still feel the pain so as soon as I eat my lunch I’ll take another. What’s this got to do with aneurysms? I know you’re probably asking that question. Well, heck cognitive issues, personality changes, etc. that come from experiencing a rupture I reckon. More importantly, a partnership where we recognize each others issues often times more than our own, perhaps. Definitely recognition of the positives no matter how great or small! Like the songbirds who continued eating despite a half dozen vultures riding on the currents. Now to our welcomes!

We have three new members this week! To start us off is

@KellyLoyless Kelly is in the Southeast part of the USA and in 2014 had tests that indicated an aneurysm that was coiled. Routine follow up scans, new growth found in October 2025 and she was treated with a flow diversion stent. Kelly would like to share her experience with the flow diversion and be able to learn from others. She’s been having some frequent dizzy spells. Kelly just start a new topic under the General tab!

@nikkih is here in the States. Nic was also treated with a stent for a 6mm aneurysm on left internal carotid artery behind the eye. Nic had a pipeline embolization stent just a few days ago. Please be gracious to yourself Nic, hydrate, eat protein, rest as needed. Enjoy your teaching!

@Casshe is up in Canada where I bet Casslyn sees snow. She had a flow diverter stent, Medtronic pipeline and is on aspirin and brilliant a. She was diagnosed with an ophthalmic aneurysm in August. In September she went to the ER with significant head pressure. After investigation (I’m assuming images taken) the Neurosurgeon wanted to treat the aneurysm. She’s been having a tough recovery. Casslyn is busy with her 19 month old I’m sure since they have an abundance of energy. Welcome and please start a new topic under the General tab, we can definitely share our experiences with stents.

@sthr795 is new today! Edna is over in California. (I’m glad the form asks what country especially with Canada (CA) and California (CA) having the same initials. Edna was treated for an unruptured aneurysm with a pipeline, recent scan found a remnant filling so treatment isn’t over yet. Frustrating right?! Welcome and like the others, please start a new topic under General so we can offer our experiences!

Those are our new members! I’m really honored to be able to welcome our new members. It’s amazing they’ve all had stents of various types right? Sort of like the songbirds that are still singing. Be kind to yourselves and others this week. Remember to keep hydrated, eat your protein, rest as needed and be especially patient with each other. Have a great week y’all, see you in the topics
