Unruptured aneurysms

I had a raptured aneurysm which was clipped in 2002.Just found out last year that I have a 4 mm . aneurysm right next to my clipping.Im back to yearly CTA scan.

Iā€™ve got 2 mm posterior communicatory artery aneurysm. Just watching it. Check up in 5 years. Although my uncle had 2 and operated on, my dad had 2 but died of cancer before they could operate. I would rather they did something now so I can live my life again.

My husband has one in the anterior communicating artery. It is 2.18 mm. One doctor told us to wait for 8 month follow up, and decide then on coiling. We are getting a second opinion. My understanding, based on some research I have found, is that likelihood of rupture and the danger of rupture is dependent on size, shape, location, and whether or not you have had a rupture before. My husband's rupture took place during a coiling procedure, so we are evaluating the risk of intervening vs the risk of waiting.

Hey Iris have you guys read that recent study from Finland . Men were found to rupture much less than women and I donā€™t think any men who didnā€™t smoke ruptured over what I think was 30 tears!

Iā€™m 27 female who last March found out I have a 14mm fusiform anny on my left vertebral artery, I feel great, so we are just watching it, they say they canā€™t make me feel better then I already do, but they can make me feel a lot worse. I get scans every 6 months, next one is in December, I was told to stay hydrated as I have a clot in the anny. I feel good with the choice to not operate

Years

2 years ago was when my 3mm aneurysm was found. Left carotid artery. Watch and wait was 4 out of 5 neurosurgeon opinions. At my 2 year last May there was a slight change so tomorrow I go for my head scan. Itā€™s scary to watch & wait but in my case, I know itā€™s the best option. Because it is small, decent location & I have no family history. Hope this helps. I will say a prayer for you. Hugs!

That they are shaped like a blister not just a wide neckā€¦these are hard to clip too.

Hi, Kelly. No, I didn't. My husband has fmd (fibromuscular dysplasia), which is rare in men, so we need to check on how this factors in to his risk. I will look for the study you mentioned! Thanks!

Hi Kelly, I had 2 coiled and stented last year and still have 3 untreated, 2 are Right side MCA's and 1 is left side MCA ranging from 6mm to 10.5mm.

They are being monitored by Scans and Angiograms, in fact I had a Scan Angiogram last week and no change in 18 months.

So I will continue with the scan routine every 12 months for the time being.

Have a look at the following site on un ruptured aneurysms and the associated risks, it is very informative and used as a guide by many Neuro specialists worldwide when assessing risk.

I have a 2mm annie on internal carotid which has been watched for last 2.5 years -- was discovered when they clipped the other 3. I have my followup MRA next February. So will know more then

I have 1 on the common left iliac artery(where it branches from the aorta to feed the lower body) that is 1.9cm next check in June 15. So I am really new discovery, and all about watch and wait. I have been told that they usually do not take any action until it reaches 5cm so hopefully it won't ever get that big.:)

i had 3 coiled last year , right side carotid , got 2 more left side behind optic nerve too dangerous to operate my doc said , 3mm other 1mm i did angio after 6 month and still the same , wait and watch a frightening experience , they told me angio every 6 month , isn't dangerous so much angiograms?

Hi Kelly I am deciding what to do at the moment. I have a 5mm on carotid tip, considered to be a very low risk of rupture. Still hard to live with though, I'm finding.

Hi Petra, congratulations on the baby :) I'm struggling with whether I should have intervention too. They have said my risk of rupture is small (although I'm asthmatic, and get a very violent cough if I get a cold, so that is an unquantifiable risk) but I'm fifty seven and wonder if it's better to do whilst I'm reasonably healthy cardio vascular wise. I care for my toddler granddaughter three days a week, and like you it's scary incase something happens whilst they are in your care.

I have 3 scary aneurysms, 5-7 mm, detected 3-4 years ago, all being monitored with annual MRAs at NY Presbyterian in NYC. No growth yet, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I now take 20 mg lisinopril in addition to hydrochlorothyozide which keeps BP way down. Do less intense exercise at sports club, no downward dogs or headstands, and wear a ski pouch with emergency info just in case. So far so good.

I have a 2 mm aneurysm that was found in the middle cerebral vein August 2013. I am doing MRAs annually and so far no growth. It's always been a fear of mine as aneurysms have killed other family members. I pray it continues to stay small. Mine was found at Johns Hopkins and is being monitored by my geneticist and hematologist as I also have Ehler's Danlos, which puts me at a bigger risk.

Why are they not fixing those?? Those are big!

I have a 6.5 mm aneurysm located 2 inches behind my eyes below the frontal lob. I was diagnosed in April 2013. I had an angiogram in July, 2013 to confirm it. I was given a 7% chance the it would rupture. I decided to wait and watch it. I had a MRA to check it this pass September. There was been no noticeable change.
