A PED is a pipeline embolisation device, which is a little similar to a stent. My understanding of it is that it is deployed to cover the aneurysm from inside the artery to create a mesh pipe that diverts the flow of blood away from entering the aneurysm, thereby reducing or removing the risk of rupture. It is one of a number of devices, like a stent or a balloon that are deployed endovascularly, so without the need for open surgery.
