Post Anurysum Clipping Side Affects

Hi Gerry, congrats on your 6 month! I'm a bit over 2 years since my clipping and can say it was probably about a year when the neck ache/sore jaw went away. Still get the neck aches occasionally but as you mentioned we're all different. My head is still slightly numb in some parts but hair is back and it's all good. Mental issues get rough sometimes but then I stand in front of the mirror and remind myself how far I've come. You sound like you're doing great, rock on Gerry!

Gerry,, I was clipped 18 years ago and it sounds like you are going through some of the same side affects. I still have a dull headache every now and then, but they are no big deal anymore. At first those dull headaches kind of scared me. When the pollen is out and around in the pasture when I am mowing, my allergies will act up sometimes, and my head will start hurting right where they operated at. Weird I must say !(ha) But that pollen/allergy problem is occasional and doesen’t happen every time. I also think everybody who is clipped will have some different side affect than the other. So it sounds like all is going well for you. Praise God ! Oh yeah, I found God 1 year after my Surgery with no regrets !

Take care,

Pat

Hi Gerry I am three months into my clipping I still have some fatigue and tiredness and not able to be as active as I was before my clipping. headaches are far apart now but I still have jaw and neck pain and tend to forget a lot more than I used too. Mine was unruptured and accidentally found when I was having some balance issues. Sounds like you are doing great and very lucky since your ruptured. Good luck to you and your recovery. Joan

Hello Gerry,
I too had a ruptured and clipped aneurysm 7 years ago, luckily I totally recovered from the ordeal. I have always have had headaches since, no migraines , the ones I used to get before surgery. I was told it was normal. I recently had my 3 rd seizure since the surgery and after several MRI’s everything looks normal in my brain. I wish you the best of luck!

Hello March 15 will be a year since I had my aneurysm. I have not had any major problems or headaches. Things was very slow at first now I am better able to do things. Like walk a couple of blocks. Go in my basement and wash clothes. Things was very very slow… I have a question. How is your emotional state?. I am very emotional and nothings wrong… I was never this way before the aneurysm…

Hi

I had my clipping done end of July 2013. My husband calls me a miracle. After a few months I was finished with rehab and therapy. I had one eye that would not open but that improved within a month. I have had migraines my whole life but was only diagnosed with them as an adult. I even went to a Migraine Clinic in Oceanside, CA where they prescribed preventative medication. That worked for awhile then the migraines came back. Since my recovery from my clipping I have had no migraines. What a difference that has made in my life. The migraines were so bad at one time that I had to go to the emergency room for a shot. It is nice to hear success stories and I know everyone is different. Before my aneurysm ruptured I had been retired from teaching for two years. I just went to my last neurology appt in November 2015. The doctor released me from his care and I only need to see him if I have a problem. I think all of us who have survived are blessed. My best friend from my childhood died while at work from a ruptured aneurysm and a young girl who was playing in a softball tournament last year collapsed on the field from a ruptured aneurysm. She did not survive she was only 15 years old. Like I always say those of us that have survived are very lucky.

Yes Juliana We are lucky and when I go to the hospital's and see others who made it but was not able to continue this life in the same capacity as us. I give the Creator praise. I am not sure why he spared me but I am so glad. Wherever I go I try to spread peace. I smile more. I tell people life is to be enjoy because you dont know what today the next sec or min holds. Crazy but my family calls me the chosen one. I also say things will never be the same...

Hi Rhonda,

I had a aneurysm clipping done in Sept 2013 around the same time you had yours. I have the droopy left eye as well. I had a procedure to correct the problem and it helped a lot. It's just slightly noticeable. I also have a vision impairment in my left eye. It not a big affect on things, still driving. Thank God. I initially had major issues with balancing and it was discovered that my inner ear nerve was damaged which caused a hearing loss in my left ear. My balance is better with therapy, but it took a lot of hard work and determination to get to where I am right know. ENT doctor feels that with the inner ear issue and left vision problem, I will have to continue practicing on eye techniques forever. From time to time I get dizzy and I practice the eye exercises and it improves. I am not back to my normal self, but far from where I started out after the clipping.

Over all I feels blessed to be here. I had a best friend on the same date had my aneurysm two years later and he died unfortunately. This makes me feel more blessed to be here and give honor to GOD for blessing me. I am glad you are doing good and take care.

Michael

Hi Gerry! I had an aneurysm rupture while they were placing my clip August the 31, 2015. I was back at work starting week 6. I didn't sleep for months!!!! It was aweful! It's now February and I'm just starting to feel like my old self. Once I was able to sleep things started improving greatly. As for the headaches....I still have 5-6 per week.....I start off good in the morning and they just progress throughout the day. I'm hoping these will resolve shortly over time.

Good Luck!!

Yes, I am 3 months out from my clipping, and the scalp crawl is most annoying for me in the evenings. It's like an itch that is deeply embedded under my scalp, and no amount of scratching or rubbing seems to help. Still having trouble with lying on my left side, and not happy about the lumpy bumpy spots around the incision that are sensitive, but doing very well otherwise, and feel that with time it will all sort itself out. Just have to get used to the "new me" and accept it.

Hi Rhonda

The term " scalp crawl" is a perfect way to describe what I feel from time to time. Most if my scalp is still numb on the right side of my head but I get this weird itchy, crawly sensation once in awhile on my scalp. It itches bad but scratching does nothing for it. So, I end up banging inthe area until it stops. Haha I must look ridiculous but ya got to do what you got to do, right? All these little nuisances are a small exchange for having our lives. Good luck to you as you progress in recovery!

Hello Donna McDonnold thank you for answering a question I have been asking myself why do my scalp itch so bad. Washing my hair regularly and keeping my scalp oiled does not help.Amazing what I learned because I join this site. I really appreciate all of you for sharing…

Hello, I am 6 years past my aneurysm. Mine ruptured and was clipped when I was only 24 years old. I have made a full recovery, minus short term memory problems and other behavioral changes(minor). Be aware of depression within weeks of post surgery. I was finding myself crying when I was not sad. I could not control it. Then I isolated myself from others and broke up with my girlfriend( whom is now my loving wife). It took me about three months to recover and start working again.

I have also noticed, I get bad cough headaches. Even if it’s just a single hard cough I get a headache. Otherwise, totally healthy. Although, I did skip my 5 year post op check.

Hang in there and good luck.

Thanks Alex.

Great to read your recovery journey.

Regards

Gerard

Alex, how did you get past the depression? I seem to be heading in that direction, can't sleep well and anxious. (It doesn't help that I need a couple more surgeries for other things in the near future, but I need to shake this off!)
