Merl....it is good to know that it offers some help to you...and, I expected 'pain management'...
Conversely... anyone who od's on weeds, alcohol, and pain killers/other meds...need to have some other testing/recovery procedures...do they not? We've had many thrown in jail/imprisoned...because taxes cover those costs...seems like appropriate therapies would be as beneficial ...more so?
My only question...is if when it is used...are there reactions...to breathing, to heart rate... to GI issues?
My fanatical question... because often the various prescribed meds...have those...a number of them have to have contraindications and Warnings... ... Right???

Well, I do use it for pain management. Now I say 'pain management' and not pain killer. It is not a painkiller for me. But when in pain, pain is front and centre of every thought and it is so VERY draining. I can have my smoke and 'switch off', the pain is still there but my mind is diverted from constantly thinking of excruciating agony. I combine this with a low dose opiate, a lot lower than I was taking, anyway, and I can function. My other option is high dose opiates and the digestion and addiction problems that brings, ohh and the "...being spaced outta my mind on opiates..." feeling. No thanks. I'll stay with the green. Much safer imo
"....anyone who od's on weeds, alcohol, and pain killers/other meds...need to have some other testing/recovery procedures...do they not?..."
In short, yes. It is near impossible to OD on weed though. Most people would fall asleep before they Od'd. But yes a detox or an educational rehab setting is a must for those who need it for any addiction concerns/problems. The difference with some substances is that there is a mental addiction ie 'Ohh I can't live without it" and a physical addiction where the body craves the drug often causing pseudo symptoms. There is a huge debate over weed having a psychological or physical addiction. Personally I believe its more psych with weed. But I know with opiates I can become easily physically addicted and due to this I 'try' to keep my opiate use at a minimum. Otherwise I start getting what I can 'Phantom Headaches' which for me is a bit like a tension HA, rather than the POUNDING headache I 'normally' get.
"My only question...is if when it is used...are there reactions...to breathing, to heart rate... to GI issues?"
For me, yes. Immediately after the initial puff or 'toke' my heart rate is increased, but this settles fairly quickly. As for GI issues, I have not had any GI concerns from it, unlike the pharmas. The biggest plus for me is being able to switch off, mentally, from the pain and discomfort.
Cathy, sorry this got off topic for you. I often forget I do see a licensced certified massage therapist once every three weeks. If I have an unforgiving headache, she will do Reiki. But because I have some difficulty with taking…something about me trying to give and not take, I don’t understand all of it. Perhaps you or someone else knows better. What I do know is that she is very careful who she does this technique to and when. For me, if I can control one constant pain, it eases the others, so massage is good for me. And it’s usually not head related anymore, it’s just the pins and screws that have allowed me to continue walking.
Cathy...ohhh...as we (some of us) age...time flies by...
I am anxiously awaiting results of your Tiger Balm and Arnica Montana...Because I am also a believer in the long-term natural products...and, a few OTC like my "MoM"...Milk of Magnesia...on skin issues...e.g. when I broke out in /shingle's...first time did get those expensive prescription drugs...but during the procedure...I also used mu 'MoM'...on the sores...and, acupuncture and my light (activator) chiropractic...
I told my reg MD who was so surprised that I healed so clearly so fast...(barely a month)...He did not think I needed to have a vaccine...Two years later, shingle's broke out again on my left foot...went thru the same procedure...Since then, I check my foot carefully and if I imagine some time spot and/or itch may be Shingle's...I put drops of MoM on it...it has now been 4 years...and, no repeat breakout...
When I had massive other psoriasis type issues post-coiling...and the high dermatologic cream/gels that never got it cleared up...I started using a lip-gloss (yes, the organic) and, the last painful itchy spot cleared up in apx 3 days...
Hope you will receive this...and, let us know how you are doing...And, that you had a happy holiday season and looking forward to a our New year...

Hi Patioplans, etc... I kind of got overwhelmed by all of the discussions here. I am trying a good old remedy that my friend recommended ... Tiger Balm and Arnica Montana pellets. These are from Healthy Planet here in Toronto. The pellets are homeopathic. I take 6. I rub the Tiger Balm on my temples. So far, so good. Now I am not thoroughly convinced but I am giving it a shot!
A very Happy New Year to you too. I’m doing well with arnica montana and tiger balm. If the headaches are too gruesome I do have to take a pain reliever. So far, so good! Hope you are well.
Merl...sorry I missed this...hope you have had good holidays...
It is exciting to know from you that pharma ads are restricted...except in ads on illnesses...Maybe that is what I read some time back...and, did not interpret it properly? Anyhow...ours get stopped...
I find it so twisted here...that nicotine, tobacco...smoking.,..is so lethal...and, that advertising was restricted... I am not promoting smoking by my comment...because commercially, that is also grown/processed w/chemicals... (which, of course, is not mentioned in health data!)...
And, of course, I get so strongly intrigued by what becomes a "pharmaceutical"...
An example (w/o all the words/names)...I d take zinc...in very small quantity...an OTC...While, recently looking at more (perhaps just memory slippage?)...on why/what all it overs...And, in searching online, learned that new "pharmas" are being studied/processed...(and, as I type here, I cannot remember if already in pharma and/or approved...

Hey Patio,
Here in Australia pharma advertising is heavily restricted. Only the 'over the counter' medications can be advertised on TV. The big pharmas are trying to get around it by having ads for specific illnesses and saying "....if you want more information go to www........" a site to their drug, but I believe our Therapeutical Drugs Authority (TGA) has recently put a stop to that. The TGA is also looking into the pharmas paying dr's with international holidays, shopping vouchers etc for prescribing certain meds. This is a practise that has been going on for a while but will soon be stopped. Presently here you can get low dose codeine over-the-counter, but they are presently investigating a restriction on that too. Reports of some people taking 20tablets of low dose codeine a day. WTF? 20 a day? One day of 20 and I'd be blocked up for a week due to all the other 'filler' they put in those tablets lol
Thanks...glad to know for you...'so far - so good'....I am doing quite well...I usually say "reasonable"...
The one thing I did (do)...is the activator (light touch) chiropractic, acupuncture and the craniosacral therapy...and do not swallow pills...other than vitamin D, B, etc..,I do not swallow pharmafia products...
Please stay in touch...keep us informed on your results / successes...Some of us are fanatical on not swallowing a drug... the prescriptive ones...
