On this day, October 20, 2020 I signed my second lease of life. My brain aneurysm that I didn’t know existed was exploding in my head after I had my breakfast. You can read more about this in my profile. I just wanted to share with you that I am still alive and I have recovered extremely well. I don’t get as exhausted longer as I did earlier, only with a few exceptions and that’s not a big problem. My vision started to change to the worse two years ago. I started to have some horizontal double vision only when I drove or was sitting in the passage seat. The double vision appeared when I was driving fast, never when I was walking or watching tv. I brought this up last year with my eye doctor and also with my neurosurgeon. My eye doctor told me that I could have new glasses with prisms to fix the problem and it most likely had to do with my ruptured aneurysm. My neurosurgeon on the other hand said that it didn’t have something to do with the rupture as the vision problem started three years after the rupture. I will likely not get any answers, just cope with what happened. So…I waited until this years checkup with my eye doctor and now I have a new pair of glasses with so called prisms. It seems that the new glasses have fixed the problem. I have been wearing them driving around several times now and no more double vision!!!
If you have double vision, please share your experience.
My next checkup with my neurosurgeon will be the fall of 2026. I hope for a good outcome of the MRA.
Thank you all for this wonderful group of people who help each other.
I think it’s fair to say that I took my health for granted for fifty years before my (different from you) diagnosis. I completely agree with looking at life now with a wholly different perspective than before.
Really great to know you didn’t pay too much attention to the neuro and you got sorted.
You are always go kind and gracious with all of us sharing your wisdom and knowledge, and I am personally SO grateful to have you with us! I do have to confess that when I take my almost-daily walk, I often chuckle to myself, recalling your posting ow shortly after a procedure you were outwalking others - you are truly an inspiration to us all!
Thank you for all the good you do for us! And for reminding me why October 20 was such an important day (my grandmother’s birthday was yesterday so why did today trigger something for me … duh! )
I’m so happy you made it! You’re truly an inspiration to myself and others here. Thank you so much for all the help and support you’ve been so kind to offer everyone. Did you somewhere special to celebrate? Double vision isn’t on my list of acquired things, can’t help you there. Glad to read the glasses are working out for you.
Thank you too for your support in this group. I made a little trip to celebrate the fact that I’m alive. I drove down to Chester County in PA to visit the Kuerner Farm, the famous artist Andrew Wyeth painted there for several decades. You have to purchase a one-day-pass through the Brandywine River Museum to get access to this beautiful place. It was a beautiful day, sunny and warm and several people were there painting and taking photos. It was so relaxing and beautiful and I did something that I truly enjoy, I painted two watercolor paintings on site. Had lunch and drove back home and no double vision
What a beautiful way to spend the day! Good for you. It looks like a stunning place and you’ve done justice to it with your artwork! Off to see if our friends who live in PA for a good portion of the year in their RV have gone here, bless their hearts, they always seem to go to the same places around Intercourse, PA.
I had my Anni in April 2016 and I too came out of it with double vision. I was seem by an ophthalmologist who reasured me a pair of glasses with prisms would help me, so he recommended an ophthalmologist who checked me out and prescriber prism glasses. All I can say is they saved my exsistance, I am able do do all the normal things including driving
Hi. Thank you for sharing your experience with the double vision. What I thought was strange is that it started three years after the rupture….. But so far the new glasses with prisms has helped me a lot. I see normal when I’m driving and that was the only time when I had that problem. Never when I walked, was reading, watching tv etc….so it had something to do with increased speed. We can be happy that there are ways to help us.
