Completely different 2nd opinion diagnosis

Hi, has anyone else had wrong diagnosis?
I was just diagnosed with an AVM & 6 mm non-ruptured aneurysm by a radiologist & neurosurgeon.
I sent my scan & report to University of San Francisco and was told that he only sees an AVM in the eye, not the brain. Now I’m going for a 3rd opinion on Thursday this week.
I’m so confused.

Hey Patrice,
This unfortunately is not uncommon when it comes to neurology. Personally I have seen more drs/specialists/surgeons than I can count on my fingers (and toes) and most of them have their own opinions. The surgeon says “We operated, we fixed…” but this ain’t fixed. One neurologist said my continuing symptoms came from a condition called Trimengial neuralgia and shot me full of Botox another stated it was cervical dystonia with more Botox, it didn’t work. I’ve seen ophthalmologists, physiologists, physiotherapists, ENT specialist and every other …ist that was recommended. None of them can give me a conclusive answer nor remedy. I have to manage all of this for me, not the specialists. I’ve now given up on obtaining a ‘conclusive answer’ and manage the best way I can.
Theoretically speaking, 6mm is considered to be small and at little risk of rupture BUT there can be a few variables, such as location.
If you find a surgeon who you feel you can trust and are comfortable with, then I’d suggest you stay with that one specialist, because the varying points of view can be very confusing and only add to your stress.

Hope it helps

Thanks, I really thought it was just me. Glad I’m not alone here. I’ll send another message on Thursday after the [3rd] opinion. Oy!

On similar but slightly different note. Past few days I had unusual headache an nausea. Since only 6 months out from coil and stents was concerned. Had appointment with PCP, couldn’t get in with neurologist right away. But neurologist called saying they could work me in. So went there first. Neurologist asked if I was having migraine because of headache and nausea? I told him “last time I thought I had a migraine I ended up in Neuro ICU. So how would I know the difference?” How would I know if another anuerisym? And honestly I was sick, frustrated an started crying. So he loaded me up with meds samples for migraine, and PBA. So 2 days later and heavly medicated I kept my appointment with my PCP. She actually gave me an examination and said I had a sinus infection. So on antibiotics. My PCP knows how much I hate taken meds that just masks the symptoms and not deals with the problem.
