I have had multiple coiling procedures due to multiple aneurysms. Once my first coils were changed to a newer coated coil, I have had no issues with any of them. It may be that the initial treatment was successful (you’re alive) and further coiling is needed to seal the deal to keep you that way. I’m 13 years post rupture and have put full faith in my doctors’ judgement. It’s hard, but in the end you will be happy and worry less. I know it’s scary, just hang in there.
Tina, you mentioned hair loss in your post. Is it localized to one side? Like the side the machine they are taking images with is on? I ask because I had localized hair loss after a couple of lengthy stent and coil procedures and thought perhaps I had developed a sensitivity over time.
Amy, I was 27 when my I had my rupture. Yesterday, I celebrated my 42nd birthday. Thanks to great doctors and technology, you will be able to see all the things you hope to see over a very long and happy life.
Congrats Tammy, it is nice to hear success stories.
Thank you, Tammy. Thank you for the encouragement. Thirteen years…an accomplishment for sure. I’ve only come 7 months so far. Did any of your coiling procedures block blood flow off of your vessels? That is what I’m looking at happening with my next procedure. That’s the part that scares me. I looked at your profile page. WOW! What a story you have!!
Thanks Tammy - hearing your experience is really helpful.
