Top of the morning World! My Dad used to say that when I was a little girl but he’d definitely didn’t use “World”, he used “Sunshine”. Dad has been on my mind a lot lately as has several other dead kin. Strange, I know but I may be a bit strange overall, just don’t tell anyone I said that. The thoughts of them comfort me as I loved them all and felt loved by them all.
I’ve been having some bad brain days and we don’t know why. We went to a baby shower yesterday and my speech was horrible. We stayed through to watch the gift opening and skipped the cake, one of my favorites, carrot cake. The parents haven’t decided on the little girl’s name yet and she’s due by the end of the month. I like to get a CD from a musician with the same first name, it’s fun but getting harder as CD’s are becoming harder to find. Two of my favorites, Arlo Guthrie and Norah Jones were the first ones and easy to find with good fun music. One I struggled with (Oliver) because I couldn’t find it and when I did it wasn’t a professionally done one (I don’t remember the proper word, our musicians will know) and the songs were a bit sad or angry. Reviews were not that good so I had to go to Apple Music for another by the same artist that was better. I reminded the new mom to be that they had to decide on a name by the time she’s born as filling out her birth certificate is one of the first things the hospital SW will come and do. I also got to tell her a story about me being called over to the hospital to help the Hospital SW with mom filling out the birth certificate. Odd right? Mom finally gave us a name, we looked at each other and asked her to spell it. She demanded we spell it. What the heck? So we got together and both writing on our note pads went for phonetic spelling. Mom screamed at us and said we were wrong and she spelled the name with no vowels. I suggested that the new mom to be not do that to her child, make it easy since she has to learn to write it, teachers have to pronounce it and she’ll be living with it the rest of her life.
We’ve had a bit of fun on one of the current topics about the metric system and what I thought was the Imperial system we use but it’s actually the U.S. Customary System based off the Imperial System. Y’all have noticed that our aneurysms are measured by the Metric System aka International System of Measurements right? Internet Searching will give some answers but I found this just this morning Busting Myths about the Metric System | NIST It’s an older article and I know lumber is sold in the metric system, especially plywood and has been for several years. So just like the changes in medical knowledge, there’s changes everywhere else as well. Seems like I better just change my tape measures LOL. If you’d like to know the history of countries adopting the metric system check this out Metrication - Wikipedia it’s amazing the amount of politics and scientists involved in countries converting. It reminds me of the struggle to get governments to put more emphasis on research for brain aneurysms. We just need to keep trying, change can come, albeit slowly.
I need to get on with the reason we’re here or my musings will go on to other things. Like our neighbor’s home that’s on the market and someone is mowing every 3-4 days, except for the big pasture. Our life is full of other things than our aneurysms even when we just want to focus on them. So with that in mind, let’s go to the welcomes of our newest members!
@jedownie is in Florida and has had coiling and a stent placed for a 6mm aneurysm. Janet shares she had a tingling experience prior to her diagnosis back in January and on April 21 she had her endovascular procedure. She’s in her “season of healing” I think that’s a wonderful way to look at it! Janet also shares she’s a retired Behavior Health Clinician with hopes of facilitating groups again.
@mykel is in the Philippines Region 3. Myk’s mom had a ruptured brain aneurysm. His mom had felt dizzy after taking a bath and then started vomiting. She is currently in the hospital having had an endovascular procedure. Myk has already started a new topic! I overthink too much Please help him out.
So that rounds up this week. Welcome to you both! Remember to stay within the last several months on responding to topics. The older ones will be closed. You can tell if it’s new by looking at the first response and last. The older ones will show month and year, while the newer ones show month and day.
For our new members, please start a new topic under General, click o the + Add New Topic, fill in the parameters, let us know how we can help. We won’t know until you ask. If you run into any issues on the site, reach out to me @Moltroub or the kind folks that make up @ModSupport Be patient as we are not all in the same time zone. I get on in the mornings usually and rarely get back on as I do have chores and things to do. The kind folks who make up the ModSupport team are supporting all of the Ben’s Friends Rare Disease Groups which is quite a lot of them. All of us have health issues and sometimes we just can’t reply.
Thank you all who have responded on topics. I really appreciate your time, thoughtfulness and sharing experiences!
Remember hydrate, protein and rest, repeat if necessary. And for goodness sake don’t forget to practice relaxation breathing and seeing a positive every day! Until next week, be safe, have fun and hug someone you love!
