Lightheadedness

Just wondering if anyone has had the same thing. Almost 3 months ago I had my aneurysm clipped after it ruptured. I did a month of rehab and when I was finished, I was given the ok to continue doing sports. I ride my bike for about 15 mins and than I get a stomachache. So I stop and get off my bike and get so lightheaded that I almost pass out. I sit for a few mins and than I feel fine again (no more stomachache either) and continue biking with no problems. Any similar stories?

My Dad is very lightheaded, walking very slowly and everything is a lot of effort. His was unruptured and he got the pipeline device but it's really taken a lot out of him. He wasn't well before though and it's only been 2 weeks since the operation. Because yours was ruptured, I would say it would take a while longer than 3 months to feel okay, from what I've read on here anyway. Don't be hard on yourself, 3 months isn't very long out of hospital after such a huge operation.

I have lightheadedness and it seems to have gotten worse over the past months. I had a ruptured aneurysm in Feb 2012 which was coiled. I keep trying to pinpoint when this happens....I thought it was when I was walking and got tired but just this weekend I had a spell while sitting reading a book on my couch. It is a very disturbing experience. I seemed to almost loose consciousness. I also have vertigo which is very hard to overcome. Marjie

I get lightheaded very often and it is scary because one does not know what’s happenings

I think is the fear of going back to the hospital. I do not know what triggers it but it is something that concerns me because I find myself looking around the floor to see what I would hit in the event that I fall!

Look up Postural Orthostatic Tachardia Syndrome~ POTS and see if that sounds like you. I I have the same issue with standing( not necessarily exerting myself) I had a mild case of POTS before my clipping surgery 14 mos ago for an unruptured annie, but now its flared up much worse since surgery. My neuro says it was not caused by the surgery, not an uncommon response, but that any trauma can exacerbate it. I also get a dull headache , feel like i could pass out and backache and nausea with mine, but it is relieved after lying down for a few minutes. It’s caused by not getting enough blood to the brain when upright. I also have a congenital problem wherby Im missing one anterior artery, so I wonder if thats the start of my problem. Theres a patient website for POTS with some tips to manage your symptoms. I know one thing for sure… the brain does not like being touched and the effects are unpredictable and varied as you can read all through this website. Welcome to your new normal and Blessings to you.

Have you had that checked out by a physician? People can get aneurysms in the tummy area.

I can tell you before I knew I had a aneurysm I used to go on my treadmill and walking normally on it I would get a headache. I never realized that the headache was a warning. I just stopped using the treadmill.

One thing to keep in mind is to check with your doctor as to the amount or kind of exercise he feels you can or should do. The point being is with ani's, repaired or not you need to keep the blood pressure down from going to your head. I was told that from my doctor. Makes sense to me that if you have weakened arteries you do NOT want the pressure building up. There is also the area's that you are not aware of that could be weakening at some point.

I know when I get upset I can feel the pressure in my head building up, especially where the clipped area is and end up with a headache. Pressure is pressure in any kind of activity or emotion. Just my thoughts on the subject.

I had rupture,2012 folowed by five extra Annie’s . I still get light headed n feel like I want to puke. All as been fixed but the symptoms stick arround . It’s as they say " the new you" good luck

I will agree. I bet most people here have the same pre-op problems still and probably a few more since their operations. Don't know your age, but sadly the older we are the more likely we are to have things go wrong.

Since my "repair" Ive had more things go wrong that all are related to the operation. 4 years and instead of feeling better I feel worse. Eyesight was my only complaint and in the last 4 years its doubled in going bad.

As for you, wanting to throw up could also be a tummy problem, digestive, ulcer, etc. Have you had it checked out with a endoscopy or colonoscopy.

When I see my neuro I try not to bring up any new stuff cuz then it means more testing. I'm tired of spending my life being in doctors offices or being poked at, etc. lol.

Your case though is harder, 5 annies is a lot to have. Very stressful for you, probably constantly on your mind or subconscious and If your a worrier then its even worse. I do hope you feel better soon.

Lightheadedness can also be a blood pressure problem. Sit down for a few minutes and then get up real fast and see how you feel. That is one thing my doctor made me do. I get lightheaded but pass out and struggle to stay barely conscious. I pretty much am alone so it's scary to go through what I call a mini seizure because my body does functions lose control and my BP drops drastically. I can't get a BP reading for about 1 hour later after coming to and when I do its so low. To this day the doctors do not know what's causing these spells within my body.

Doctors are educated but sadly they are dealing with so many patients. I do not know how they maintain all these health issues within their own brain. They must be on overload also.

Another search which may be so helpful...

One easy to read site http://www.emoryhealthcare.org/pituitary/disorders-

I could not reach this site...to one I read from the general terms...

Search: Low BP anatomy and physiology ... or any other words/terms that come to you.. .

I’m from Philadelphia, PA and had my aneurysm coiled at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. My neurologist restricted me from any kind of exercise except walking for my first year. I had my aneurysm in Planet Fitness riding an exercise bike. I passed out and was taken to the hospital via ambulance. I to had about a month of rehab and I was instructed to avoid lifting any thing over 5lbs. Now I’m 14 months post surgery and going to see a specialist 6-12-15. I can’t begin to explain the confusion, fear of falling down stairs, extreme sensitivity and emotional issues and that’s only what I know. If you are only experiencing light headedness you are doing great!

Never experienced the stomach ache, but lightheadedness after exercise, certainly - even after a short brisk walk. I told my doctor and he checked my blood pressure. From being rather high, it was now on the low side, so he has lowered the strength of my blood pressure meds by half a couple of weeks ago, and this seems to have improved things.

After reading these posts it proves to me again that we all seem to experience so many of the similar problems.

My BP med was started high and then lowered. Once lowered I did feel better. I tend to think higher doses are given as a safety precaution. Hope you all feel better. Jeanne

I think that three months is too soon for vigorous exercise. I would check back with your doctor. Fran

My Dr. told me no bike riding. Two years since surgery. Sorry!

I have also started to have bouts of lightheadedness which are becoming more frequent. I had SAH from ruptured aneurysm which was coiled in 2014 followed by more coils and a stent in 2015. The lightheadedness only started earlier this year and was only about once a month at first but now happens every day. It happens both when moving around and when sitting down. The sensation in my head is difficult to describe. There is no dizziness or spinning with it, it is a bit like oxygen deprivation which makes me think it could possibly be to do with low blood pressure but when I check my blood pressure it is normal. I had a follow up MRI a few days ago so I will ask my neurologist about it when I see him to discuss the results.
